Where to place bets for UM games online?

Submitted by Z on

I think the general populous has underestimated my Wolverines, and I've been spreading the gospel.  I want to put my money where my mouth is but I'm unfamiliar with placing bets online.  I know many on here use certain sites, so I would like some feedback from those users.  Could you please address the following questions?

1) What site to you feel is the most reputable?

2) Are there any legal concerns I should be aware of with online bookmaking?

3) Are there any sites that you have been screwed by in one way or another?

4) Is it possible to place bets further out than just this week?  I know the lines are out for all of our games, but I'm unsure if I can place bets right now before the odds-makers adjust their lines based on our ass-kicking of the Huskies on Saturday.  This is going to be worse than what would happen if Michael Vick was the director of operations for the Iditarod.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

I use betus, they have good bonuses for deposits and their payoff checks come fairly quick. My only bet week 1... 100 on Michigan (-3) parlayed with the over (54.5) pays 260. Come on Blue 55-0 at the half.

1-  I use Bodog and they have a pretty good reputation.  I received a check for the only payout I ever requested (never said I was a good gambler)

2-  Legal Concerns: it's illegal.  You can't buy into the sites directly anymore due to a new law that went into effect over the summer.  I haven't deposited to Bodog since then but from what I understand you now have to buy into a PayPal type of service overseas and then buy into the gambling site from there.  It just adds an extra step to the process.  Also, when I received my check from Bodog it was from a random company in Canada and didn't say anything about Bodog or gambling.

3-  No.  I've only used Bodog and it has worked for me.  I've never heard anyone talk about a site that has screwed them over.

4-  I think this depends on the site that you use.  The Vegas books have already had week 1 lines out for a while but Bodog doesn't have them up yet.  If I remember correctly from last year the college lines come out on the Monday before the game and the pro lines come out on Tuesdays

I hope this helps a little bit.  Be careful betting on your favorite teams though.  I can't trust myself to rationally predict and wager on Wolverines Football

... I'll respond to OP's question #2:

Yes there are legal concerns for online betting in the US.  As in illegal.  Just look at the rules from BetUS.com, mentioned in a response:

14.  All BetUS Sports Group transactions are accepted and legally processed under the approval of the Government of Costa Rica. All transactions are considered to originate and be governed by the laws of Costa Rica.

Which of course is BogUS for you, assuming you are in the US.

The government focuses on the Big Fish, of course, so the likelihood of being nabbed is low.

If the Feds just licensed and regulated online sports betting you could probably wipe out the National Debt in 10 years.  They don't because of political contributions from large gaming companies who want it for themselves.

Of course, less than an hour away from A2 is Windsor, Ontario, with a sports book at Caesars...

I've never had any problem with them, and have gotten any withdrawals without issue.  Of course, since the new laws went into place they did make me send them a copy of my drivers license, but that was the extent of it.  I've still been able to make contributions directly on the site, too.

You would probably be better off going to a local OTB.  Only because there are a lot of scam artists on the online sites.  Either way, good luck and GO BLUE
