Anyone else disappointed by the Bar B Q??

I'm glad we finally got Wormley, but, I was expecting a commit-a-palooza of 3 or 4 commits.

It was kinda anti-climactic.

Oh well, life goes on.

Anyone know what they ate?  Was it ribs and deluxe stuff or just generic summer fare like brats, burgers, watermelon, and corn on the cob?

Yes, we have been spoiled.  It's going to catch up to us when we have a full class.  What will we do with possible months of no commitments?  Last year most of the drama filled recruiting hapened during and after the season.  It's going to tremendously slow down this year.

I guess I was expecting one or two more commits as well.  They will drop soon though.

Seriously, what could we possibly keep ourselves occupied with during the months of September through December, if not recruiting news? God help us in January, though, if the class fills up in August.

I'd expect top ranked kids to space their annoucements so they each get their moment in the sun.  So I'd say lets judge the BBQ by what happens in early August.

If nothing else, pushing Wormley over the edge and ending DE recruiting is nice.  We're now down to two posistions of need (DT and WR) and three posistions we'd take a top ranked recruit in (QB, RB and OL)*.

*I'm assuming Dunn for RB, Diamond for OL and I guess all the elite QBs are off the board, but we might be quietly trying to flip someone.

CRex, what's going on with you personally?  After the Diaries on your introduction to the Korean inlaws, always wondered what the end result was?  Are you headed to S. Korea?  Staying in MI?  Going somewhere else?  Update us on how things ultimately turned out.

GO BLUE!

Things aren't quite as exciting these days.  I got "married" back in the winter.  The married was in the sense of getting the green card joining and dealing with the fact INS can be a bunch of uptight pricks over Student Visas sometimes.  The official ceremony was in Korea in May and we honeymooned in Mongolia.  Monogila in one sentence:  Never again will I complain about the mosquitos in Northern Michigan.

We're likely in Michigan for about the next two years while my wife postdocs.  Various elements of her family remain not thrilled about the fact I'm white.  However one of her cousins is dating a Japanese guy and suddenly I'm the lesser of two evils.  The Japanese after all are the hated colonial opressor of the first half of the 20th century (at least the older generations hate them).  So I'm kind of the old gossip and some poor Japanese guy is the new focal point of family hatred.

If there is some kind of demand and August slow is maybe I can toss up a post.

with lots of top OL including Zach Banner.  The longer this plays out with Diamond the less I expect him in this class.  I believe reports are he is headed to SEC country this week and one of the reasons for not making it in to the BBQ was expenses.  I don't like to read between the lines but....

If you build up lofty expectations you are bound for disappointments. I assume the bbq built stronger ties with the commits and non-commits and we just have to be patient. On a side note, not sure if this was posted anywhere but seems we are making strides with payton. http://www.maxpreps.com/m/article.aspx?articleid=6ef3dde9-01b8-e011-a48…

I think the Hokester has spoiled you a little bit. The BBQ wrapped up mere hours ago. What if four guys committed and they suddenly have to start answering questions about whose spots are those guys going to fill? Sure, I wanted Pipkins but they've got plenty of time and an amazing foundation to lure some serous elites between now and February. Patience, MBD. Patience.

Which, according to his twitter, should be posted up late tonight. With what appears to be an update about Dunn in it. Also sorry for how big the text is, I'm not sure how i could edit it.

I'll have all my BBQ updates posted in the Weekly Update. Depending on when I get everything it will probably go up late night tonight.

Dunn's Dad didn't make it up with him, the visit went well I'll have more on him in the Weekly Update.

I was really hoping for Monte to commit, IMO he's the best playmaker left on our receiver board.  Standford & Peyton are great targets but they seem to have limited playmaking skills after the catch.  We need a difference maker and Monte seems to be the guy.  He doesn't look too fast on film but ran a great 40 at msu's camp recently.  The kid has jukes, that what need.  Hopefully he didn't make the bbq for logistical reasons only.  I'm sure Tom will let us know tonight in his weekly update.

You misspelled all our recruits's names in this post:

Monty.

Stanford.

Payton.

I'm not really worried about getting a WR commit at this point. It seems like all of these guys are looking to take visits. As long as we stay on these guys, I'm sure Hoke and company can bring in one of these guys.

Someone on this board with knowledge of the MSU camp said to take their 40 times with a grain of salt.

I haven't seen much video of Darboh, but he's got a great offer list, excellent speed and is 4* across the board.
