For what it's worth (the supposed press conference firing)

Submitted by pdxwolve on

I have been very curious about Monday, even though DB shot down any idea of a press conference. For what it's worth, a very good friend of mind who talks with RR regularly (newspaper person) said he doesn't know what the hell is going on, and that he knows of no press conference. Just passing it on. Can't say who it is, but this isn't some double-secret figment of my imagination. After hearing this, I feel a little more at ease that there will be no public lynching of RR tomorrow.

I await your verbal dong punches...

This is one of the "instant classic" threads . . . For you first-time readers of this thread, keep reading.  We all went from being angry to speculating about a head coach change to now speculating as to whether there will or will not be a team meeting on Thursday about something.  Outstanding!

No, he meant Neil Armstrong.  In his time in space on the moon, Neil studied all the asteroids that could potentially hit the Earth and concluded that none will hit on November 29, 2010.  Its a complicated calculation but he did it and I trust him so we're safe.  Whew!

You mean that there is no press conference???  But I read on the interwebz that there will be one today, so it MUST be true.  I am so confused right now.

This, combined with Dave Brandon's continued insistence along the same lines, makes me a little less confident that there will be a Firing-a-palooza press conference today. I still see the odds as a smidgen in favor of Firing-a-palooza's happening today, though.

Maybe I should have indicated that my previous post was intended to be sarcastic.

I thought pretty much everyone had come to the conclusion that DB isn't a liar, and when he said there would be no press conference that meant there wouldn't be a press conference.

Brandon strikes me as the kind of guy who isn't going to BS around.  If he says something I am inclined to think he really meant what he said; so, when he said there was no press conference today I believed him.

I would like to hear something before the bowl. I'm a Jim guy but will support our coach and team if RR is retained, but this limbo crap has got to end soon so we can all move on.

What it is ain't exactly clear, but my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Dave Brandon scribbling on blue index cards at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.  (Apologies to Buffalo Springfield and the lovely Simone.)

I was talking to this guy - you don't know him, but trust me he's totally legit - who said that tomorrow David Brandon is going to hold a press conference on Wednesday at 9:52 a.m. to report that the Fiery Hawaiian™ Pizza is now just $5 AND comes with a free 2L of your favorite soft drink.  Pickup only, no deliveries.

My other contact - she's the person DB plays to act like his sexy chaffeur but who is actually a trained assasin and bodyguard who can kill a man 5 times before he hits the floor - reported that Brandon is about ready to blow up this whole thing and introduce the new Chipotole-style 5-bean garden salad and Italian breadsticks lunch special, every day from 11-4, for only $4.99 at participating locations.  I know - what a deal!

Finally, I personally read on this one site from Russia that great change finds UM coaching staff, as RR and the rest of his staff will be ordering their customary late-night calzonnes not from the local sub shop, but from one of the 14 convenient Domino's locations across Ann Arbor, open until 2 a.m.  Expect this to lead the Freep's coverage of RR under the title "RR ditches local establishment for corporate chain with delicious and price-conscious Dominos; possible socialist or wise man?"

Why not the Monday after Stanford finishes its schedule - i.e. next Monday?  I mean, if we learned anything last time around, wait until the final game of the regular season is done so that the target coach may break the news to their damn-strong football team after their final regular season game, right?

This question is not an endorsement of firing RR nor hiring JH, simply a common-sense question, usual disclaimers apply, not valid in Hawaii and Alaska, your mileage may vary, etc...

that was scheduled on Thursday. i add that not to raise a rumor but, rather, to make sure the caveat of "planned before the OSU game" is included so that if there's rumors/rumbles later, people know the 'reality' surrounding it

also i have a particular loathing of will hagerup after confirming his suspension was truly deserved and was not 'oops he screwed up academically'
