What games to watch this week?

Submitted by sirnack on

I was wondering what (non-Michigan) games everyone was watching this week. NW @ Purdue looks like the only good game on tomorrow, but MSU, Wisconsin, and WMU all have games on Friday that I might try to catch parts of.

Before our game on Saturday the FAU @ OU and UW @ Auburn games probably have the most hype, but are there any other games you'll be keeping an eye on?

I'm lowkey hype for Purdue tomorrow.

Looking forward to UW-Aub, LSU-MIA, and VT-FSU. First look at Taggart as a Nole!

I'm conflicted about Tennessee and WVU. It probably won't be a good game, and I enjoy both teams and don't want to see one get clobbered, but I do want to watch Will Grier kick off his Heisman campaign and try to put up some big numbers on Pruitt's boys.

I'm one of those "I want what's best for Michigan's strength of schedule" types that generally thinks it's good for teams we play to win.

One of the upsides to the brutal schedule this year is that, if Michigan can somehow be in the committee conversation, our schedule is guaranteed to be murderous, so nobody has to hope some distasteful rival wins just to burnish our resume a bit. Our resume will be fine if we win, and if we don't it won't matter.

Like you, I'm looking forward to Purdue-NW tomorrow. Tennessee and West Virginia could play a very entertaining game on Saturday at 330. I'll have a personal interest in CMU-Kentucky. Maybe App State and Penn State gets weird? I'm really intrigued by LSU-Miami too.

Texas Tech - Ole Miss should be an entertaining game at noon on Saturday, potentially Texas-Maryland as well.

There are some pretty decent 3:30 besides Auburn-Washington. UNC-Cal, Tennessee-WVU, PSU-App State, Wyoming-Wazzu, and NIU-Iowa.

Saturday night before our game Boise-Troy should probably be the best G5 game of the year at 6.

Tulane-Wake tomorrow at 8 could be entertaining too. Stanford-SDSU Friday night too.

College football is such an awesome sport. There's our game, upon which our world hangs; there is also a handful of games that we know will be nationally significant. And then there will be a couple of under-the-radar games that turn out to be gems we'll all be flipping to, watching for the big upset/high scoring performance/shocking letdown.

It's the first week. It will be great.

WMU, did my undergrad there and a friend’s family member is on this year’s team. Would love to see him do well.

Poor guy has to line up against Gary next week, though.

Tennessee vs. West Virginia, to warm up for the UM-ND game.  I'm in Knoxville, so there's a local interest.  It will be interesting to see the start of the Jeremy Pruitt era.

I want to see what Stanford looks like Friday night, and also Taggart's FSU team against VT.  Maybe I'll check in on Fisher's version of aTm, if I think about it.  And LSU-Miami should be fun to watch.  Miami should look solid, but watching Coach O has an entertainment value all its own.  I'm kind of interested in seeing how he blows that collection of talent he has, again...

Not sure if I want NU to clean Purdue’s clock because of the Speight incidents last season.  Or should we pull for Purdue to start strong and the Brohm to (insert next big opportunity) rumors begin, so that Karlaftis has doubts about going there?

I will be watching my Alma Mater, WMU, Friday night as they open at home vs Syracuse.  Should be a good game.  CBSSN.
