Submitted by UMMAN83 on

your collection.  Number one for me.

1.  Detroit newspaper with headline "Bo To Import Old Staff From Miami"  .... found under the stairs in the basement while remodeling a home.    Nothing wrong with importing your braintrust.  Can you guess the names?

2.  Autographed Rom Kramer book

3.  Blue paint chip from the goal post we ripped down

4.  UM helmet I made when I was 11.   Gotta get those decals back for for great defensive plays.

Go Blue !!!! Can't wait to tailgate with everyone !!!

Is the program when Michigan played Oklahoma in the 76 Orange Bowl.  It is the only time the two teams ever met.  OU had the Selmon brothers.  Michigan was led by Leach and had Les Miles on that team.

Best thing was sitting in the endzone where AC scored the game winning td against Indiana, was only 14 then, but that was the best experience ever.

I have a lot of possessions, but the two that mean the most to me are pictures of my son at the Big House.  One during spring fan day at the age of probably 4, in full UM football gear, after playing football on the field for a while, I got a great pic of him in the endzone celebrating a touchdown.  The other pic is at about age 7, just before we left the country.  He's on the top row of the stadium, smiling ear to ear with Nixonesque double peace sign, with the massive stadium behind him.

These two pictures hold great memories for me, and my son and I like to look at them and remember home.

...and Mr. Woodson which is on his bedroom wall:

years ago (and I'm talking maybe 1980 when I was a teenager), I literally walked into what is now Schembechler Hall and made it all the way to Bo's secretary. I told her I was a fan and asked if Coach was around because I wanted to say hi. That's the only reason I gave - I wanted to say hi (the idiocy of this now, in retrospect, is overwhelming). Sadly Bo wasn't in but I asked if I could see the office and she said yes. Unbelievable. So I got to poke around Bo's office  for a few minutes which was totally f*****g cool. It was an awesome enough experience that I probably could have somehow parlayed it into getting laid. Didn't happen but I'm working on a revisionist history of my life (now that I'm a sad, married, middle-aged cog in the machine who still doesn't get laid) in which I bang all manner of chicks back at the dorm after regaling them with my tall tales of adventure. Ahh, to be young again....

We beat OSU and that was on the front page.  Plus, Anwar Sadat became the first because the first Arab leader to visit Israel, seeking a peace settlement.  There was a little snippet about ABC cutting away for his plane landing, setting off tons of phone calls into the radio station.

Plus, when we beat OSU in '97 I took some sod and saved it in a plastic bag.

But I'd have to it would be my Mike Hart autographed helmet that has the plaque on the display case "MIKE HART #20  ALL-TIME LEADING RUSHER AT MICHIGAN"

Also my Tom Brady autographed plaque too. I'm going to fan day in august so I'll have to make more room..

also signed by Sam Mele(Boston Red Sox scout-also coached Billy Martin as a player).  Sat next to Sam for the Big Ten Tournament.  Sam bitched for two days about this kid(Barry Larkin) wanting $350,000 to sign out of college.

I have quite a few items. Desmond signed jersey, a few photos signed by Charles Woodson, Tom Harmon and Gerald Ford signed index cards. My favorite football item has to be this signed lithograph of Bo Schembecher of the celebration after the 1969 OSU win. I still have to get it framed. I don't have a pic of mine, but here is one on ebay. I only have Bo's autograph on mine. I'm not sure if I should add guys on it, or leave it with just Bo.

Not football, but I also have signed 8x10's of each member of the Fab Five. Webber's autograph is not pretty.

A signed letter from Fritz Crisler thanking my great-grandfather, and enclosing two tickets for him for the Army game, for moving the granite block at Michigan Stadium upon which sits the eagle at at the entrance near Stadium and Main.

Also, from the old scoreboards, I have the 'OHIO STATE' that they would slide into the board (it's like 15 feet long).

Interesting enough, they're double-sided and the other side says 'SOUTH CAROLINA' (who last visited Ann Arbor in 1985)

I have:

1) The Michigan Daily - November 24, 1997: "The Victors!" including commemorative wrap-around section "Fight To The Finish".

2) Detroit Free Press - January 2, 1998: "Hail Yes!"

3) Detroit Free Press - January 5, 1998: "Perfect!"

I'm willing to sell them all to a loving home, btw ;)  e-mail me if interested. [email protected]
