I'm just interested to see how close Drake Johnson is to coming back.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:30 PM ^
just as a change of pace. . . and vision.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:33 PM ^
His quickness just makes it so there doesn't have to be a huge hole to get to the next level. He just is better at finding room.

I have a feeling Smith grades out better from the coaches than the fans, Harbaugh certainly seemed to shift blame away when questioned about Smith. I think we all see him not following his lead blocker and assume it's on him, but only the coaches know where it's supposed to go. From Harbaugh's answers it seems like the FB was not hitting right holes a lot either.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:19 PM ^
Still not sure Harbaugh will make a change at RB. Feel like it will be smiths job short of him running backwards for no reason.

Oh! Played with 10 on special teams.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:31 PM ^
We had a special teams play with 10 people.

Sure. It happens. There was way too much focus on this when bashing Hoke.
The other thing I found interesting was JH clapping in encouragement as the team made there way off the field after Int 1 of the season, It amused me only because I recall an MGBer explicitly state that he (?) couldn't wait to have a coach who didn't clap when we screwed up!
So maybe we can move on from Hoke bashing!?
Weighing in as a new voice (of reason, though you don't now that yet!) and would suggest that game 1 told us nothing new about the team.
Watching Penn State and Northwestern this weekend reminded me how unpredictable Game 1 can be. (Chose to highlight these games over The Horror)
I, like most, believe JH will do great things for UM. And it might begin this year with 9-10 wins. We'll know more after BYU. (Yes, I know OSU is next)
Have been waiting all summer for the season to start. Now I'm just praying for cooler temperatures Saturday.
UM 31 Oregon State 10

JH said that Chesson slowed down during long pass and that two of the INT's were due to receiver running wrong route....we knew the first INT was because of route running, but now also the pick 6.

YES! This is what I said here all along. Chesson slowed up on that ball and then when he spotted it, he sped up but it was too late.
JH and I see the same thing! I feel exonerated.
I also said the same thing about Perry running 2 TWO wrong routes!!!
The average "fan" wanted to fry Rudock for that game...but the average fan was wrong! He did not play that badly.

probably a good QB, probably has a good arm, probably throws accurate passes, probably knows the offense but........how would you fucking know with him running for his life his entire Penn State career.
TEMPLE! destroyed that offensive line, TEMPLE!!!!!!
September 7th, 2015 at 1:23 PM ^
Temple is actually reputed to have a good D this year. But yeah, 10 sacks - ouch.

I think I got more info from that news conference than we got from Hoke over his four years.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:50 PM ^
That was awesome. Coach really told us a lot of things. Some of his answers to questions were very detailed. I love it.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:53 PM ^
I'm a little shocked, actually. Not used to actual information coming from a Michigan coach during a press conference.
September 7th, 2015 at 4:22 PM ^
And if you noticed, as the coach's answers got better, the reporters questions got better.
I think I'm going to have tto start paying attention to these pressers now.
September 7th, 2015 at 12:52 PM ^
rattle off some detailed offensive statistics when discussing his team's performance in the game. It's obvious JH and his staff pay a lot of attention to analytics.

Favorite quote was the part about winning being the only mouthwash that will take the bad taste of the Utah loss out of Jim's mouth
September 9th, 2015 at 8:06 PM ^
Is there some MGoBlogger with good, advanced Photoshop skills who's working on the meme that will be changing the text on top of this label to WINNING on the top line and MICHIGAN on the second line, and then inserting Kills the Bad Taste in Your Mouth That Comes from Losing Football Games in the text box?

Anyone else notice all these live events on the official site have very low volume? I have to crank up my speakers to hear anything. It wasn't that bad for the coach but I can barely hear the players.
September 7th, 2015 at 1:58 PM ^
They all sit far away from the mic, and there is only so much gain to be had before feedback. The solution is asking the interviewees to lean in a bit. It seems reasonable enough.
September 7th, 2015 at 2:33 PM ^
The biggest thing from this is that I actually believe in this staff's ability to fix the mistakes that we're made, and improve from week to week
