Week 10: Best thing you saw...

Submitted by mi93 on

That was enjoyable.  Opportunities to get better against edge rushing are good.  9-0 is certainly a great thing to see too.

Elsewhere (and with Washington - Cal still ongoing and entertaining so far):

- the SEC only has one team with less than 2 losses after A&M loses their QB and the #4 slot and FLA gets Bert-ed (PAC and Big 12s also only have one team with < 2 losses with only the PAC having a playoff shot);

- Baylor gets what they deserve for trying to rally for Briles;

- and what's not to Lovie about 4th and 3 for the win in Champagne?  Maybe great offensive play calling could help win lots of games rather than in an attempt to win just one.

This week, though, best thing I saw was Tommy Armstrong, Jr. returning to the Shoe after being carted off the field.  Great to see him running across the field to join his teammates.

you really mess with all the keys that ohio and others will be trying hard to read on the fly.  not that they couldn't do it, but it gets harder if you suddenly move at light speed and the opposing D hasn't been training like that.  also, it is about the only thing that i see that would be relatively easy to work into what we're doing, and which could have a dramatic impact in a game.

I was wondering about that too. I also think there's a lot out of the Pepcat package that hasn't been shown yet. I think the tempo will come with Speight, though.

On the other hand, if Speight continues his improvement trajectory, we may not need anything less than vanilla. That first half yesterday was spectacular.

I would have to say seeing Tommy back out there walking. In addition to that, it was great seeing Michigan have a solid performance. Maryland's defense was super ugly though. I think their D makes it hard for them to beat osu next weekend.

If I channel Gerdeman and think about the Buckeyes objectively for a minute, it was about time. The guy makes plays - if he played defense, too, he and Jabrill might be spoken of in the same breath. It really makes no sense that the OSU coaches didn't figure that out sooner. At Florida, Urban had Tebow, around whom he built a nifty offensive scheme... but maybe that's the issue - Urban is a great coach, but not inventive enough to see past what a dual-threat QB can do. So, with respect to Samuel, Urban is a like a duck looking at a wrist watch. Maybe Samuel would like to be tutored for a couple of years by Harbaugh and his staff instead.

Wearing the Michigan hat but I wonder if they had to do so much damage control with Weber and his parents in the aftermath of the signing day fiasco that the OSU staff had little choice but to make Weber the starter asap. There was an emotional espn piece on the issue etc.

Well, the best thing I saw certainly was not twho offenses in the SEC which, for three quarters, did their best to improve upon some of the more controversial foundations of Beamerball, mainly the one which sometimes asks a team to submit to the notion that the point simply exist and are there to be scored, regardless of any attempt to actively obtain them.

One thing that stood out to me - perhaps also not the best, but very striking - was how uncompetitive Nebraska really looked against Ohio State, which says a lot about where the Big Ten East is as a division in relation to the Big Ten West and makes me think The Game will be one hell of a ride. Also, glad to see Tommy Armstrong come back to the stadium after what looked like a horrible injury at first.

I agree on Nebraska.  They have not impressed me.  They got the benefit of the doubt for being undefeated but they hadn't played anybody.  Now, they've played Wisconsin and OSU and lost.  The only reason they played Wisconsin so close is because Wiscy's offense is basically non-existent a lot of the time.  I didn't see anything from OSU in last night's game that looked different from what they've been doing all season.  I saw no "step forward" from them.  I just saw Nebraska being exposed as the completely non-elite team they are.

I worry about every game that Michigan plays because I'm an irrational and high strung worrying fool, so seeing Michigan jump out to an early lead was the best thing I saw. Playing from the opening whistle isn't something Michigan has done in recent years. It's a nice reminder that our coaching staff has prepared the team in practice for exactly what they are going to see.
Second best thing was my relatives texting me complaining that Michigan is "running up the score". They are ND fans, I don't think they've seen a good game this year, so I'll give them a pass.

Best thing - Speight's progression as a QB.  He has unquestionably improved this year, and looks like he's putting it all together.  Another year of Harbaugh, and he's a 2nd rd pick at worst.  What a QB coach this team has!!  Where are the yahoos that wanted DeShone Kizer instead of Speight?  Bunch o' morans...

The best thing I saw was our quarterback play. I was hard on the kid and I was wrong. He looks like a top ten quarterback in all of college football right now and I think he will be the biggest part of our win in Columbus. It's also nice that he has one of the best Michigan receiver cores ever.

The best thing I saw was Armstrong walking back into the stadium

Speight's game was the best thing I saw in a Michigan uniform

The Drake Harris should've been a catch was the worst thing

...Armstrong reminded me (unfortunately)...how many QBs have we knocked out? Hills made another one.

Michigan ran the ball 39 times and only 3 of those attempts failed to gain 3 yards or more (-1, 1, 2). That's a 92% clip at which the run offense is, at bare minimum, making adequate progress to move the chains.

MANBALL. But it's not...big credit for this goes to the diversification of the offense. But what an advantage for Harbaugh/Drevno going forward to be able to dial up a simple dive or counter and count on 3-5 yards.

beating TAMU, MSU and Oregon respectively. TAMU *immediately* laying an egg after being in the top 4 was pretty lulzy. MSU is self-explanatory. I can't stand Oregon because of all that Nike special crap and the whole air about that program, seeing them being humbled every other week is top top notch.

Not exactly a "best" but yesterday was the first time ive ever seen harbaugh yell at one of his players on the sidelines (kalis), which is something he rarely does. i thought that was interesting.

Went to the game with my friends and son. We were sitting in section 23 right next to aisle. Rick Leach was making his way up to press box and he stops and tells my 12yr old son that he's growing up the right way as a Michigan fan, and he then said he'd tell Jim Harbaugh about this one! We then got a picture with Jon Jansen!! Awesome day!!
