Week 10: Best thing you saw...

Submitted by mi93 on

That was enjoyable.  Opportunities to get better against edge rushing are good.  9-0 is certainly a great thing to see too.

Elsewhere (and with Washington - Cal still ongoing and entertaining so far):

- the SEC only has one team with less than 2 losses after A&M loses their QB and the #4 slot and FLA gets Bert-ed (PAC and Big 12s also only have one team with < 2 losses with only the PAC having a playoff shot);

- Baylor gets what they deserve for trying to rally for Briles;

- and what's not to Lovie about 4th and 3 for the win in Champagne?  Maybe great offensive play calling could help win lots of games rather than in an attempt to win just one.

This week, though, best thing I saw was Tommy Armstrong, Jr. returning to the Shoe after being carted off the field.  Great to see him running across the field to join his teammates.

What you got?

the re-emerence of Jehu was a very nice thing to see.  Having equally talented receivers on both sides of the field, with the qb showing confidence in both is a nice omen for the remainder of the season. Was happy Jake set the record for TEs because he's been instrumental in the turnaround of the program. Hurst looked real good in the later part of the game where many tend to take time off. The OL opening holes significant enough for DeVeon to run numberous times for 8 - 12 yds. Not seeing Allen in punt formation for another week. Happy O'Korn was able to get another TD toss; Lewis blanketing his receiver and Wilton's continued growth. Knowing any and all recruits in attendance are probably going to return home with M at or near the top for their services. And, of course, The Coach going nuts in yet another blowout. His continuous pursuit of growth and perfection is rare and genuine. Also, almost forgot - Brown making in-game adjustments. Loved it.

I'm guessing you're one of the few remaining O'Korn trolls. Anyone with any football acumen whatsoever can see that Wilton Speight has improved massively in the last 10 weeks.

There were more than a couple instances in this game where Speight was pressured. Every damn time,Speight avoided the negative play and in most cases turned the play into a nice game.

Speight is the best QB on this team, it's not close. Peters, McCaffery will be sitting til Wilton leaves bc he has the QB spot on LOCK.

Wilton is gonna end up being GREAT.

Wilton Speight having his best game yet, looking like he may be the best QB in the Big 10 right now, as noted previously, Deveon Smith running  the football with an enthusiam unknown to mankind, and Jabrill Peppers playing football with his unique and exceptional enthusiasm also unkown to mankind.  Looked like a beautiful day in Ann Arbor on TV too.  Could not have hurt the recruiting this weekend in Ann Arbor.

Chesson getting back into the action. If he can have a late season surge he gives the offense an extra edge and Speight another target he can have confidence in.

with the opportunity for even more.

I also enjoyed the barely intuitive addition of aTm into the CFP lasting a total of 1 week as it should have.

Hearing Armstrong is OK early Sunday is most excellent news too.

De'Veon is the main guy, our reliable bruiser. But Isaac, Higdon, and Evans each provide a potent change of pace. I think we're in good shape for 2017 at RB, even with Smith leaving. As a group, they averaged 7.0 yards per carry yesterday, and are averaging 5.5 YPC for the entire season. The team has already rushed for 208 yards more this year through only 9 games than during the entire 2015 season. (Obvious kudos to the OL for their contribution to this rushing upsurge.)

I laughed at the Levy clip from 1997 when he was reporting that Hurst's Dad had a "bulging dick in his neck".  Credit ESPN for playing that - pretty funny.

Also loved the Harbaugh story of him watching a baseball game in the bleachers while he was the starting QB for the Bears.  Diving for a foul ball and getting mustard all over himself - he is one of a kind man!

on a sunny, 65 degree day in november(!), watching us score on each of the first, what, 7 drives, kids had a great time.   traffic wasn't that bad and an enjoyable chat and ride all the way back up north.

and for plays, it's either the 2nd and 34 yd play to evans to get to the one-inch line, or the speight-pepper-speight-darboh 40 yarder.

not-so-hot take:  i have an idea on what we're going to do to ohio in 3 weeks to break tendency....we're going to tempo them, big time.

But is there a tendency to break?  This offense is so varied and diverse that I don't think it repeats a single play during an entire game.  The base plays all have different twists, which make them difficult to diagnose and adjust to.  We haven't seen a repeat of any of the one-off's, and I don't think we will.  It's almost unfair what this Harbaughffense is capable of!

I think Levy or Griese said it yesterday - this offense is the beginning of the next wave of game changing schemes in college football.  Defenses have largely caught up to the spread teams, at least in terms of design (individual players aside - Lamar, Barrett, etc).  But this offense is totally confounding defenses right now.  UW appears to have done well, and they have a great defense.  But look under the covers, and its pretty clear that UM stopped UM more than UW did.  And not only is the scheme destroying defenses, but Harbaugh can adjust it in numerous ways during the game if needed.

It.  Is.  Awesome!!!
