This week's betting lines
So maybe we'd all like something else to talk about. I looked through the lines for this weekend's games and found a few that looked like winners to me. I generally look at jimfeist.com, but if you see a better line somewhere, shoot it out. Here are the ones I like. Anyone else see any winners out there?
New Mexico State over Idaho. NMSU -3
UNDER on Georgia at Oklahoma State. 61.5
Ball State over North Texas. BSU -16.5
Illinois over Missouri. Illinois -7
UNDER on Illinois at Missouri. 61.5
Army over Eastern Michigan. EMU -4.5
Wisconsin over Northern Illinois. Wisconsin -16.5
Purdue over Toledo. Purdue -11
Auburn over La Tech. Auburn -13
OVER SJSU at USC. 48
I acknowledge that I appear to be a bit of Big Ten homer. I guess you're more comfortable with what you know.
My favorites are NMSU over Idaho. NMSU has a new coach from UCLA and 12 jucos. Idaho is rebuilding constantly and were equally as bad as NMSU last year, so going with the home team in essentially a toss up seems logical.
Georgia / OK State is another one I feel good about. UGA is breaking in a new QB and RB so I don't expect them to fire out of the gates and UGA has a solid SEC D that should be able to contain OK State to some degree. Getting the total to 60 seems unlikely.
Toledo was god awful last year and I see no reason to think they'll be any better. Purdue is nothing special, but a two touchdown win is not at all a lot to ask.

Illinois -7
Purdue -11
and I'll lay points and take Michigan this week. Call it a hunch we'll play good :)

VI has all the lines updated every minute.
I'd hesitate to pick Illinois(-7) over Mizzou. Ill has a terrible track record with the Tigers. I like:
Georgia (+6) over OK. St.
MD (+21.5) over Cal
Nevada (+14.5) over ND
Michigan (-12) over WMU
Cinci (+5.5) over Rutgers
USC and the OVER versus SJSU. I don't care what the line really is.

21.5 is way too many to give between two decent teams. I think Cal is over rated anyway. I wouldn't sleep on Rutgers though. New qb is an issue, but they turned it around nicely last season, are at home and I think are in decent position. Should be close though, so the 5.5 is tempting.

I like the Nevada pick. I think they have a good chance of beating Notre Dame but it should definitely be within 2 touchdowns.
I've talked up Kaepernick here and elsewhere, but he is amazing. Since Notre Dame has never had a good defense I think he is going to put up monster points. I'm actually a little disappointed that the game is on at the same time as the Michigan game. I'd like to watch it and root for the Wolfpack.

What is the line on Montana State/Sparty? I haven't seen these at any sites.

They usually don't release lines on matchups against 1-AA teams.

Ahem...yes. Probably not a bad idea.

The Maryland game is a steal. No way Cal wins by more than 3 TDs. Hate to say it but I doubt Michigan will win by 12 or more. Just can't see them winning by 2 TDs.

You're right. They're not going to win by 2 touchdowns. Instead it will be 6 safeties.
But seriously I would stay away from the Michigan game. There is no way that I would put my money on Michigan winning by more than 12. At the same time, I'm not confident enough in Western to cover.
If I was absolutely forced to pick one I would put my money on the underdog.

I agree about the Cal game. I don't think Minnesota will win, but I do imagine they will cover.
