...I fail to see the clear correlation between appearances in press and good things. Sadly, I would posit that this "ranking" arises largely out of freep-fueled witch-hunt stories and an inordinate number of articles about our football team being down.

I was under the assumption (perhaps incorrectly) that this measurement counted references to Universities outside of the sports programs. If it were counting sports, I don't think Harvard would ever have been #1. In my thinking, such things as the Consumer Confidence Index which is run by the University, and other similar references, are what they're counting as media references.

I think that the Consumer Confidence reports that we put out every month or quarter go along with sports to make up this count.
