Way too much positivity

If I get banned, I get banned; am I the only realist when it comes to basketball? It’s all sunshine and rainbows — we sucked against a terrible team.  A win is NOT simply a win in this sport.  Please don’t let me be alone in this sentiment.  Carry on and Go Blue.

An 8 point win in mid-December is nothing to get worked up about, no matter who the opponent.  These games just seem to happen, where we look lethargic and the other team makes a bunch of crazy shots and has 1 guy go off for a career high.  Just take the win and move on.  Can't wait til conference play.

oh god, i can't imagine what you'll be like when Michigan gets their first loss in basketball because they will lose eventually.

We had two stars carry us today and 2 stars were either average (Poole) or completely MIA (Iggy).  Add Teske’s “B-“

and we won.   Because this team is a collection of great players.

when this team clicks on all cylinders they can’t be beat   Period

when they underperform against bad teams they win    (WMU and Holy Cross first halves)

No NJIT this season   Team is too solid and too many stars to carry the team when others have bad days

The team is probably ok. I think they used the early big games to make a statement. They haven't been as locked in as of late with normal or lesser competition. I'm fine with it. If they play flat against the bigger conference opponents then there may be some room for questions.

Feel good about it, actually. They missed a lot of good looks in the first half and still went in up five. Flowers had a monster game and sometimes that's enough to lose a game for you; Z kept him in check and stole the ball from him to clinch the win. Delighted Z was hitting threes, Charles his FTs, Davis getting two good long stints. Even Iggy came through with a couple of big late lay-ins. Altogether I'm feeling pretty upbeat about this team!

Yeah because it’s easy being 11-0 and curb stomping several Power 5 teams including a team that just beat Gonzaga tonight. You are alone and if you are not, we have other terrible fans with you.

This on a day that is going to result in the first batch of first place votes for M in the AP poll and a solid spot on the 1-line for the foreseeable future.

Undefeated with dominant wins over all the good teams they faced is literally as good as it gets.  Your fandom will never, ever, be more lovingly carressed than it is right now.  So enjoy it granddaddy!

god...some fans resting state is that of unhappiness...

No one is saying anything except bad things about this game...but it happens during BBall season simply due to all the games they play.

Some people are never happy though and some will even bring up Beilein's loss to NJIT as a way to diminish him...

St happens during a season, but Michigan typically gets much better over the course of the year...I expect Michigan to continue to make strides as the season grinds along

Wasn’t a great showing, but how many damn layups did we miss? We make all of our bunnies at the rim we win by 18 and no one is saying a word. This team will probably lose 6 games this year, they aren’t gonna go undefeated. I wish we would have won by 30 but we didn’t and hopefully we beat Air Force by a bunch. The offense just bogs down when the ball gets reversed to Charles, I know he had 25 but it didn’t feel like a smooth 25. I say get the ball in Poole’s hands more. He had really stepped up.

Just shut up man, I have said plenty of great things about this damn team. People can have objective views of the basketball and football teams. I love both and hope both win every game but they aren’t perfect. They won by 8 over a MAC school at home, and quite frankly struggled with them for a large portion of the game. I can have my opinion just like you can. Just because I don’t blow sunshine and rainbows about EVERYTHING Michigan doesn’t make me jealous or that I hate Michigan. I tip my cap to the guys who show out and I question the guys who are plateauing or not performing. We won, that’s great and I’m happy, but there are more to sports than just barley winning against inferior opponents. Just shut up about me “complaining” when all you do is go to every post that says something somewhat negative and question their fandom. I’m sick of the sunshine and happiness blowhards that stalk the boards telling people who give their opinion even if it’s different from theirs that they aren’t “true fans” and jealous. I’m gonna post my damn opinion here because I can and it’s what it’s for. I deal with your shit, you can deal with mine.

I see I touched a nerve.  You are relentlessly negative and the only ‘Tipping of the cap to guys that show out’ is presented with the classic troll passive/aggressive tone. Try to disguise yourself better - we all know you are jealous of Michigan.

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, but we are also entitled to repetitively neg it and question your motives with your pathetic attitude. There is a reason people don’t value your opinion around here.

northernmich

And people value yours? Go look at my posts about the great minutes Davis gave us today, or the fact that Poole has stepped up and looked great. I would never start a thread saying to stop the enthusiasm about an 11-0 team that is ranked 5th in the country. That’s asinine. But I’ll voice my concerns when I see them.

I see you - and you see me. The board sees us as well. They are speaking with their votes. You just can’t see the votes because your opinion is not valued enough around here to have that kind of awareness.

Also, you would not start this thread because you cannot start a thread. And under this name, you will almost certainly never start a thread - for good reason!

Beilein has earned the benefit of the doubt. His teams tend to overachieve. Harbaugh hasn’t earned crap. His teams suck to finish the season and you can count on them to find ways to lose.

This game was the basketball equivalent of a mediocre team like a Maryland or Nebraska getting up for a game and giving OSU a run for their money.  Western was pumped to take on the main in-state school, while U-M was going through the motions.  Nothing to get worked up about.  Stuff like this happens in sports.

Remember when we played like crap 4 out 5 times in in NCAA tournament, and made the final?  You forfeiting those games?

Geuss what...I guarantee we lose a game this year.  Free throw shooting, bad 3 point  shooting,  foul trouble, injuries.... Yep all those add up to a loss.

Tourney... You have to beat 3-4 good teams in a row just to make a Final Four, odds are something will go wrong there too.

So yep you will be most likely right.. congrats 300 + teams don't win the title for some reason way to play the odds

Football..  I loathe people say I told you ____ will cost s early in the season.  Well no kidding, a loss can usually mean a factor of things,  offensive line play, fg kicking ,safies pash rush

The team was clearly rusty and didn't care much about this game. And they pretty much got he best effort WMU could give them.

If this is one of the three worst games of the season(which is likely), I'll take it.

uminks

December 15th, 2018 at 11:50 PM ^

So, the team was down a bit Today. But at least they won. They probably did not think WMU would put up much of a fight and thought it would be a blow out. But their shooting went cold and realized they had a game on their hands towards halftime.

This team assblasted the team that just spanked Gonzaga. They're 11-0 with possibly the hardest part of the schedule behind them, but yeah they're all kinds of ass.

I can understand some negativity when it comes to football, but the basketball team is kickass right now, and led by a coach who's teams always turn it up come March. OP is quite a steamer

Iggy and Poole are PTPs and that’s the way it’s going to be this season.  When it’s a big game, you will see this team at their finest but they most likely will look sluggish and sometimes bad against mediocre teams.  A win is a win, Go Blue!

We played to the level of our competition for much of the game then woke up and coasted it out.  Beilein's teams always seem to struggle a bit in December and January.  Then the fans start complaining.  Then come March we play lights out.  Par for the course.  I am not worried.

Missed a lot of chances right at the rim and most early 3-attempts.  They made just about everything.  We still won.  Sign of a good 11-0 team.

Would you feel better if we lost to Furman and blew out WMU?

ReverendBlueJeans

I didn't get a chance to watch the game but thought the same thing when I saw the final score. Then I saw the rest of the CBB scoreboard. Man, this was a crazy day for upsets and close games: UM, OSU, Cuse, Nova, Auburn, Nevada.

There's no need to make excuses. Coach Beilein summarized it best in his post game interview: "we didn't play well and WMU played awesome." All you can do is learn from it and I think our coach has proven he's pretty good at getting his players to do just that.

Not single person here would've said we would enter full-time conference play undefeated...and we've got a really good chance at doing that. My goodness, if that isn't a reason to be happy, content, excited, I don't think anything'll do it for you.
