Way OT: Lindsey Vonn & Tiger Woods break up

Submitted by East German Judge on

With the Draft, Fight, Derby, Wings Playoffs all over, we are entering a serious sports dead period - luckily the Tigers & U of M Softball are playing well - so this hit the wires today that Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are respectfully calling it quits:

So my questions, if you so choose to answer, are:

  1. Who is it a bigger loss for?
  2. Who will rebound quicker, i.e., who will get another celebrity bf/gf sooner?
  3. What are you drinking tonight?

And let the Perkins/Going Downhill jokes begin....

Florida.  You know that is at least a billion dollar mistake for hard-charging thighs a la Lindsey.  Their combined net worth would plummet to zero in her mind.

Eh, she's got her own money even if its not as much, so bigger loss for him. She was a 7-8 slumming with a 6.

This is absolutely crazytalk. Tiger Woods is many points higher than Lindsey Vonn in the dating market. She's a 30 year old female. He is probably just trading for a younger better looking girl.

Im talking looks alone.

If she was just some lady looking for the spotlight, I could see why she would find herself with Tiger as he's still a big name in the world. But Vonn has her own fame and her own money, so why settle for a goofy looking dude whose past his prime?

Here's the deal. Vonn obviously cares about fame and money, evidenced by the fact that she decided to date Tiger. Two years from now, nobody is going to know who Vonn is. She is worth a couple million dollars, which is a tiny amount for a person to sustain for 50 years on. Her looks are on the decline, and she knows it's time to capitalize on her fleeting fame and find a guy who has some real money to support her.

Also, once girls get past the age of about 25 they start to care a lot less about male looks.

I lost whatever shred of respect I had for ESPN after this Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight. The anchors were so biased against Mayweather and couldn't believe their angel Pacman didn't win. It was unbearable.

They made this whole good vs evil narrative just so they can pile on Mayweather when he won, which any boxing fan with a clue knew was gonna happen.

Pathetic.

Mayweather doubled Pacman's punches thrown and punches landed yet people are still screaming about him running LOL

Shit is comical. All the fans cheering Pacman's missing flurries was even more comical. 18% accuracy haha.

Mayweather's defense is impeccable and made one of the best offensive boxers in history look like an average joe.

Yeah no doubt.  This was the the first fight I actually watched in about 10 years, and my god, what a snooze.  Mayweather won, but neither of these guys looked like GOAT material.  Mayweather is quick, but lacks power, and i am just glad I didn't have to pay to see it.  This fight verified why boxing is dead in my book.

I'm drinking 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die. Lindsey will hook up with Rory McIlroy, and will be quoted something to the effect of, while he doesn't have Tiger's length off the tee, he's better at finding the hole.

is Tiger Woods. I do. I get that he was arguably the most famous, dominating & influential sports figure for a solid decade (longer?). In his game he was untouchable. He was historic in skill as he played! I get it. Yet, why does he still command such a following? He hasn't been close to the top golfer since before his ex-wife clubbed him (no pun intended). Why does ESPN run a crawl that he & Vonn broke up? Who cares? Haha. He's not that famous anymore. It's forever a case of "fixing his swing", getting healthy from every joint in his body, etc. He gets his ass kicked now (kicked as in not even close to the front of the pack) and every report if every tournament will show the top 30 finishers & Woods, 20 places behind the 30th guy lol. I don't get it. It's as if his ego refuses to admit that HE isn't what he was so he blames swing coaches & injury. Meanwhile, the sports world seems torn as to whether he should be treated like the Tiger of old or what he is now, the not so squeaky clean average pro golfer that was once beyond dominant. Worse (IMO)? He is still as smug/arrogant as ever. Most openly arrogant sports figure in my lifetime, IMO. It's as if we don't know how to report on the guy now that he's average. I think we should report on him like an average golfer but that's me. His love life no longer needs an ESPN crawl.

along with the news on the tragedy in Nepal, the rioting in Baltimore and of course the life and times of Bruce Jenner. I am not sure where the tiger woods/lindsey vonn story fits in the spectrum of world events but all I could think of was, what would Jim Harbaugh do?

Just moved to Utah for an internship. Worried there would be no beer sales on Sunday's but my walk to the grocery produced one bag of food because my other hand needed the summer shandy, the highest percent alcohol sold on Sunday's. Better Than nothin.

If so, you can still find the real stuff on Sundays. All of the breweries in Salt Lake are open on Sundays (Squatters, Epic, and Red Rock) and they all have walk out coolers with their high point brews available for purchase. And best yet, it's cold, unlike the room temp stuff found in the state liquor store.
