I wouldn't have been able to enjoy his senior year easily. This is clearly the right decision and it seems like all he could have done was hurt his draft prospects by coming back.

I made a comment during the run that we are only a top 5 team when Wagner is carrying the team, but when he's not "on" I thought Teske was the better all around player. Wagner's last few games made that comment look dumb.

Last year he had a good game in the tourney and suddenly the mocks had him in the first round, then not. That was stupid. But I think his gritty play this run sealed the deal. After the top 10 picks I think every team needs to start thinking about him.

Absolutely love Moe! Probably my favorite player of the Beilein era so far. A few memories really stand out: 1. The game in East Lansing- the ankle breaker and the fadeaway teardrop 2. The Ohio State game where he got the crowd to its feet on a jump ball. That enthusiasm is contagious. 3. The final four vs Loyola, he willed us to that win. I wish him all the best, he will have a great career in the NBA!

But think for a moment if he improves his shooting half as much as THJ has at the NBA level? I would love to see the Pistons grab him if he’s available in the second round when they pick.

But dang this stuff stinks as a Michigan basketball fan. Two times to the title game and we always lose key pieces that would assure us as a title favorite. Don’t blame the kid at all but as a fan I wish just one time we could keep the Burke, Hardaway, Wilson or Wagner types that would make us the title favorite for the next year. Could you imagine this team with Moe next year to go with improvements and incoming talent? I’m just waiting on Matthews to go now, which would be par for the course with hoops. God love Beilein for being so transparent and honest with these kids as opposed to the Izzo and Roy Williams of the works who convince one and dones to stay 2-3 years.

We did keep Burke and Wagner after they initially considered going pro.  Burke especially was almost out the door after his freshman year and then decided to stay.  Moe tested the waters last year and then came back.

McGary and GRIII also turned down the pros after their frosh year.

With him potentially the next year we would have been rocking after that elite 8 appearance. I know we kept some of them one more year but I was more referring to the year after our title runs. Any time you can keep them is great, just would be nice to finally stare at a squad and say “now that our star(s) are returning we are a def title favorite”. I don’t blame any of them though.

This can be said of a lot of teams.   If your team is really good, you probably had NBA-level players, and once a star player has made the Final Four, what else is he going to do at the college level?

I do think Matthews will be back, and that we'll have a very good team anyway.

For me, the real "what-if" from the Beilein era is not over anyone going pro, but over Mitch staying healthy in 2013-14.  Add him to that group, that won the B1G and nearly made the Final Four, and I think that's the national champion.

He hurt his back in the 2013 offseason and initially tried to play through the pain before finally having surgery in January.  He was making rapid progress in his rehab and even dressed for the 2014 tournament games, though he wasn't quite ready.  Because he dressed, he had to take the drug tests during the tourney (which he failed).

Going to be strange when Michigan takes the floor next year and hes not there. His three years on the team felt like ten. Same with MAAR and Duncan. Best of luck to Moe though. Hopefully he kicks some ass in the NBA!

Darn. They were a sure national championship contender if he returned. Probably not so much now. But money is hard to turn down.

But think theres 10 teams that are and only 2 ever get to the game. Even if they were better next year it would still be unlikely they make again.

Im with ya though, I was really holding out hope he was going to say Fuck it lets have another go. Damn it Dirk you should have just retired!

He is good enough to go- especially if defense and footwork are the concerns. We’re talking about joining a league where offense is valued much more than defense. He’s not perfect, but neither are most of the other players entering the draft. Also, I’m sure he will have much more time to work on his defense and footwork... and get paid to do it.

Anyone have a thought on which way Matthews is leaning?  I'd think he'd at least get an evaluation.  With Matthews I think we're still a top3 Big Ten team next season.

I was hoping he'd come back even though it is his time to go.  The only thing I thought might keep him here is that I heard he really loves being a student at Michigan.  Apparently he does.  Beilein should keep his letter and show it to his recuits.

That he would come back, but figured it was a long shot. Go chase your crazy dreams young man. The former Michigan players are the only reason I pay any attention to the NBA at all. With Moe going, I might even watch a few games. Gonna miss this guy.

All that was left was to win the championship and with what a crapshoot the tourney can be that’s such a long shoot. Right time for him to go. Loved watching him play.

So go, Moe, though woe is we

Your grit & face & fun made it a spree

(Bonus: ankle breaker of the ankle breakee)

Thank you for being a Michigan man, Mister One-Three

Selfishly, i wanted him to stay, however, I am not surprised, as this was expected after testing the NBA waters last year.

However, it was truly a pleasure to see Mo on the courts - he brought so much energy and passion to the game it was infectioius...

Truly one of my favorite Michigan players...

Good Luck to Mo - he'll always have Michigan fans rooting for him in the NBA

I wish we could have you for one more year - forgive my selfish UM basketball team rooting priorities.

Thanks for contributing to two epic NCAA runs.   And two B1G tourney titles.

I knew this was coming but still a little bittersweet. What a pleasure it was watching Moe the last few years and after his performance in the Chicago-Loyola game, this is the right call. Best of luck to Moe!

Good for him. Our offense next year has the potential to be truly mediocre though. 3 non shooters on a beilein team is going to lead to a lot of 5 minute stretches without scoring

I have a feeling Mo Wagner might be fun to watch in the NBA too, so yet another reason to watch the NBA a little more than I typically do.

Good luck, Mo, and thank you for helping to make the last couple years of Michigan basketball a ton of fun.
