I believe if you act like you are trying to sell them and enter the barcodes, Stubhub's system won't let you list them if they have already been sold or are currently listed on the site. However, people can have them listed without the seat numbers and thus not the barcodes until they are sold and the barcodes are entered. Thus, you can check a little bit but there is no way to be 100% certain until you scan them and try to enter the Big House.

"You were the tight end with a much faster defender bearing down on you. I was the speedy guy right behind you who resembled Black Jesus. I was all alone. I kept hoping that you would PITCH ME THE GODDAMN BALL, but alas, you did not, and we went out seperate ways. Maybe you didn't see me, or maybe you didn't think I was interested. Either way I'd like you to know that I was definitely looking for a connection. You can reach me at IMGODDAMNSTEVEBREASTON (at) gmail (dot) com."

Just be sure that you're home alone with plenty of cash and expensive electronics around when the guy comes to drop them off.

I had a similar problem last year.
I bought a student ticket to the Nebraska game about 3 weeks beforehand. This was enough time for the student to claim his ticket as stolen and get a new one. He entered the stadium first, so I looked like an ass at the gate and had to go home to watch Michigan's best performance of the year.
Student tickets can't get sold on StubHub, so no way to check that. I would suggest if you are suspicious of this happening, get to the stadium very early. That way you can beat the scammer or if it's just a bogus ticket, you have time to get a new ticket before gametime.

triguy... that sounds pretty dirty. couldn't you find the student who sold them to you (and can't you report it to the authorities)? i.e., didn't he communicate via umich email. it sounds strange that someone would do such a thing to a fellow student. crazy.

I would have, but he didn't use his umich. I met him in from of his apartment complex, so I really didn't have an address either.

I still say the university should chase down all tickets being sold in the black market for more than face value and prevent the owner from buying season tickets. There are too many people in line that want tickets to attend games.
