Too busy crying for ourselves?
Well, that was fast.

Bend Over Like Beckerman
Blyve?
Hoke clap.
I'm playing the 4-pass drinking game. When the US completes 4 passes in a possession I take a drink. I'm pretty damn sober... and thirsty.
It's been happening all tourney.

Messi is not of this world
I don't watch a lot of soccer but he is blowing my mind right now.

Mission accomplished... I guess.
Argentina has 40mm people, we have a population of 330mm. The Latino demographic in the US is the fastest growing and soccer is the #1 sport for that group. TIme to stop with the excuses.
Most Americans either don't care or are "meh"

and start criticizing the coach, the lineup etc. I guess it's the American way.
money, resources, and a growing population that loves and plays the sport....we should be able to put together a school and system that builds a competitive team.
Otherwise we should go the European route and just start importing players from countries we have essentially imperialized and give them citizenship. I know Klinsmann was trying that at some point.
Damn it...We are 'Merica. We should be able to pay for a winner!

and how long is that the case? It takes 20+ years for kids born here to become elite at the sport and even if their parents live for it, doesn't mean the kids will. Everywhere you go in latin america, every pissant hamlet no matter how small has a soccer field. That certainly isn't true for hispanic kids in the US everywhere
"USAARG BLYVE" is what I yelled after Messi hit that shot. Damn.
We have the worst midfield and can't possess the ball. Where is all this supposed money and resources towards US soccer going? We look like a High School team.
Tacticly poor, technically pathetic.
from ground up before we see the effect of the changes. Our youth system has sucked for years filled with parents who don't know shit about soccer coaching the team or coaches who wants to win games instead of developing technical skills.
We don't have the technical skills to compete with the elites.
U.S. will NEVER be competitive internationally. Kids grow up in other countries learning to dribble a soccer ball as soon as they can walk. Here kids play baseball, football, basketball and a lot other sports. Soccer will never be primary. Not an indictment, it's just the facts. People who believe the U.S. will one day reach the level of Europe or South America know nothing about soccer.
One of these teams is better than the other.
I think it's really cute when people think that U.S. soccer can compete with countries like Argentina. C'mong!!!!

Totally agree, I was just commenting that the guy who replaced Woods made the boo boo, and Woods would have never made that poor ball that made it to Messi's foot.
Well for a brief window every half century it may be possible. This is what happened in 2000s when donovan's teams beat portugal, spain and nearly brazil. Just gotta get lucky in terms of decent players coming up at the same time
I can't remember who here was screaming, basically, at me when I was praising Bradley up and down after the US beat Germany and Holland whenever the hell that was (pre-Gold Cup?).
Whoever you are - YOU WERE RIGHT
he sucked
