Urban Meyer on the sidelines

Submitted by Carcajou on November 18th, 2018 at 10:50 PM

Urban Meyer's been rubbing his hair so often, you'd think he's auditioning for a shampoo or hair products ad. He doesn't like he's enjoying his immensely well-compensated dream job one bit.

(Perhaps better asked on Eleven Warriors or O-Zone, but don't really want to spend any time over there this week, but...) honestly, looks so miserable all the time on the sidelines, been wondering why doesn't he go orchestrate his evil empire from the press box on game days?
Serious question.

[It's possible that part of the reason it's bothering me is because he looks so pathetic recently, and I hate the idea of feeling sorry for Buckeye anything.]

The man seems to have serious health issues but I just can't feel sorry for him given the reasons they are now public.  This all seems a little too manipulative to drum up public sympathy in the wake of his shitbaggery being exposed.

Dude. Man (or Woman). Bro. Bruh. MgoFriend. These health issues are too convenient.

He has an "arachnoid cyst," a condition with no observable symptoms. Further, he just starts banging on his head this season, amidst a national scandal, but has had this condition for "years."

Either it's an unlikely coincidence or he's planning his escape/greasing the escape chute. He'd be more discriminant if he was staying for next season. He has to convince recruits otherwise and he's slamming on his head like he's possessed on national TV.

Also, it's not like this year is actually more stressful for him. He's shown he's indignant about the scandal and cares much more about winning.

This ^^^^^

It’s a bit TMI-ish for this venue but after an MRI, I was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst at the base of my neck 20 years ago.   When the discovery was first announced and I finished crapping pants for fear that I was just told I had six months to live, the doctor (at the Mayo Clinic nonetheless) could barely contain his laughter while telling me those things are so common and benign in that region that it’s akin to getting a diagnosis of an ingrown toenail.

Since then I’ve had the cyst looked at many times over by myriad medical professionals and have mentioned to many others - each time, it was shrugged off.   Either it’s a well coordinated effort to keep my spirits up, or “Arachnoid cyst” is the absolute bullshit medical term one uses when they’re looking for something like sympathy.

Serious health issues.... ok…don't fall for that crap.... he used that to get out of Florida and save face, so he could line up a year ahead of time to land his OSU job.... he is doing it again....  but this time its pretext for a firing...

So he has serious health issues you say, but somehow, they don't impact recruiting??? That's a neat trick, isn't it...

As Randy Quaid would say...Bingo!  The man has health issues, but he's laying it on thick.  Don't see how he doesn't excuse himself out the door at the end of the season, waiting a year or two, and going back into coaching.  Should be his worst year at OSU, and just like Florida, when the goin' gets tough Urbz gets going...

I don't feel sorry for him.  I think the way he operates is a sprint and when it burns and he gets stressed, his health problems flare up.  But he wins at all cost and when it doesn't work out, he's supposed to earn some pity?  Fuuuuuck that

I believe that's he legitimately ill. But if that's the case, then step away. You're not doing anyone a service by coaching your worst team since you took over and looking completely miserable while doing it. How anyone in their right mind would want to watch that for another season, especially with the product they've put on the field, is beyond me

It’s an act, obviously.  If not, why doesn’t his head “hurt” when OSU makes a play.  It only seems to hurt when they screw up.  Kind of like when Kobe pretended he had a bad knee except it only hurt on defense.  Total BS.

He doesn't look happy because the results on the field. He's behind in games and all coaches look shitty at that time. Lucky bastard keeps winning though... hope we crush them.

I am most likely remembering his issue incorrectly but, if it's a cyst with fluid around it and all they do is drain the fluid...Why don't they take the cyst out? Maybe that will do us all a favor and give him permo memory loss, like a lobotomy

He looks disinterested more than anything. I think he wants out. Health is a perfect cover. He knows he can land on his feet somewhere. Probably somewhere like USC. He may take a year off to "recover".

I am one to usually give the benefit of the doubt to someone with health issues, but his reactions are so over the top on the sideline IMO. Hard to believe it’s a genuine reaction when I’ve never seen him quite act this way. Feel like he’s just setting everyone up for his departure in the offseason.

I work with a guy who is extremely close friends with Urban and he says Urban is retiring after this season. He said the Zach Smith thing really shook Urban and the pressure is taking a toll on him.
