Can I say that I expect his punishment to be a suspension for the rest of the season? Or would that be deemed inappropriate? Do we need to comment saying how disgusting this act is every time it happens?? Clearly it still happens if we are disgusted or not

How are you even able to post here anymore?  I mean, digging out of -1,000,000 points is noble in some way, but man.

Also, my wife would disagree wiht your "don't have girlfriends in college" argument.  Of course, I'm also capable of not hitting other people in the face because I'm angry.

This reads more like an altercation than an assault.  It sounds like he at least showed some measure of restraint.  He pushed her into a bed and used his forearm to pry a phone from her.  It's not a great situation to be in, but he didn't hit her, she's not injured, and there are no charges.

Alcohol + relationships = sometimes blowing things out of proportion.

I've never, ever hit or assaulted a girl, but I remember drunk arguments where I was forced to physically restrain an ex.  If things cross a line, you can't automatically fault a guy for it.  Who's to say she wasn't the aggressor in this situation?

She told police that Barrett confronted her in his bedroom and "choked her on the bed." She said Barrett used his forearm to apply pressure to her neck before taking her phone away from her.

Barrett-Clark told police she managed to get away from Barrett and call police.

Maybe both called?

It just seemed odd that the original story posted said nothing about Barrett calling police.

Also, there's this, so assuming we'll know more soon enough:

it just me, or does anyone else find it odd that she has already hypenated her name to include Barrett?  Or even weirder - that he would possibly date someone with her name already hyphenated and including his last name?

Mind blown.

Yeah, not to discount the gravity of a situation involving potential domestic abuse, but can someone dig up more on this point?

both the media coverage and public perception.  Accussation = Guilt right now.  In years past, courts made the determination as to whether somebody did something or not, now reporters do.  I am not saying whether there was or wasn't wrongdoing in this particular instance, but the times they are a changing.

Tread lightly"? What does THAT mean?

DV can and should be criticized whenever it happens. This is not a UM vs. OSU issue. This is not a Frank Clark vs. JT Barrett issue.

You're clearly referencing Frank Clark BiSB.

Why does Frank Clark have to do with this?

Can UM fans not criticize Barrett if he did this? I'm not Frank Clark, so the answer is "yes".

I think you might want to tread lightly.
