UM Students Light Couches on Fire last night

Submitted by Lionsfan on

Apparently last night, a few UM fans decided to take the celebrations a little too far.

Contrary to belief, they do burn stuff in Ann Arbor after a big win twitter.com/jackHammerTime…

I want to be embarrassed as an alumnus. I'd be lying if I didn't think after our win last night "I want to burn something." I guess the difference is that I didn't.

Only hope is that Hipster Graduate Students did it ironically.

I'm all for celebratory fires (not involving couches, cars, that sort of thing), but I guess them couches just go up real quick.

As long as they aren't damaging public property not really a huge deal.

I am obviously not as informed about the subject but I thought couches were burnt after a defeat - I choose to believe that this was done by a spartan in response to our win (which is an even bigger loss to some of them than their own defeat - See Dantonio, Mark) unless I see some evidence to the contrary.

It's very shameful to see Michigan carry after little brother and burn couches following a win. It boggles my mind why anyone would burn anything after a win. Yeah, your team won, but don't burn anything or attract the attention of the fire department. Just drink at home and post on Mgoblog and get posbanged and stuff.

I drove a cab in Ann Arbor from about 1993 to about 2004. Saw couches on fire a couple of times. One was at State & Hoover, don't remember any other locations.
