UM possibly pursuing Rice grad transfer OT

Submitted by Term on
Calvin Anderson, a 6'5" 300 lb. LT and 2 time all-conference USA, is grad transferring from Rice, and Michigan is apparently interested. I know the general consensus of the board is 'no' to grad transfer OL, but I feel like this is different. He's not a guy who lost a job or could never win a job at a bigger school. He seems like a guy trying to play up in competition for his last year, a la Jaaron Simmons in basketball. I know that hasn't work out great, but the majority of us were pretty excited at the time. Could be good insurance for Newsome not coming back, and any competition at OT is good

Years later and we are still in a bad spot. Drevnos fiasco with Swenson....was something we could not afford even half-fold.... I think the media got us there, because at the time Harabugh couldn't afford bad press early in his tenure so he wasn't about to cut Swenson free so early upon arrival here.... But it seems we were better off keeping him, as Ulizio didn't pan out.

We know for sure that if Anderson can handle academics at Rice he’d fit at a strong academic school like Michigan. They’ll probably wait to see if a certain prominent OT recruit comes to UM. For the right guy there is a starting job to be had. Cole did it as a true frosh.
