UM Football Experience Survey

Submitted by TrppWlbrnID on October 15th, 2018 at 12:24 PM

I just received an email from the UM athletic department that includes a link to a "football experience survey." if you are like me, you have many opinions about what goes on in the stadium on saturday. if you get this email, please take the time to fill it out and be specific about your concerns. if you did not get this email, check your spam folder. if you still did not get this email, i am not sure what to say. it is likely they only care about my opinion.

my general opinion, in all things, but especially michigan football is that it is not made better by hearing snippets of Crazy Train. it would be nice to be able to talk to the people around me between plays without screaming over Black Betty. i really like the Veteran of the Game, though.

The voting PSA was absolutely required.  That college-aged voters turned out as horrendously as they did is atrocious.  They're supposed to be the ones all agitating and changing the world yet they couldn't be bothered to register or vote?  Extremely hypocritical.  I, as a civic-minded person, appreciated the attention paid to it.

I haven't received that email and I'm curious as to what mailing list is being used by the U... is it Alums, giving alums, students, ticket holders, something else?

I think Bando is correct.  I have gotten a half dozen or more of these things in the past; I did not get this one.  I know that in the recent past, not all ticket accounts got a survey.

Or maybe my past responses got me taken off the survey distribution list.  ;-)

Our tickets are in Section 8, Row 82 and the band is always extremely quiet.  Even the piped-in music is extremely quiet.  I don't think this is something recent as our tickets have been in the same place since I was a toddler.  I know they probably can't put speakers on our side of the stadium as it would likely result in a crazy echo effect.  And they probably can't turn up the volume of the music without making people closer to the speakers lose their hearing.  But it definitely affects the game day atmosphere for me.

Thank you OP, I agree.  Back before they filled every moment with sound, the crowd, and especially the student section, invented it's own chants and crazy cheers.  Now some sound engineer somewhere decides what we're doing.  Louder, but not better, IMO.

Was going to mention this as well. I like it. At first, I wasn't sure if it was our band, or the opposing team's band. Would be interested to find out what the song is. The band now has a song for 2nd down, 3rd down, and of course 4th down.

One thing I love about Michigan Stadium is the lack of advertising. I am fortunate that a friend of mine has an extra ticket to the MSU game this weekend, where I will marvel at how every square inch of Spartan Stadium is seemingly covered with ads.

That said, I wonder sometimes how much the lack of advertising in the Big House adds to the ticket prices. I usually conclude that if they made money from in-stadium ads they would spend it on other stuff, not on lowering the ticket prices.

If you conservatively estimate that the university sells about 600k full-face tickets every year (accounting for student tickets and all), how much do you really think they’re going to take off the ticket price with a few ads literally no one wants? They don’t need the money. And no ads is something fans clearly value.
