Top ACC-Big 10 Challenge Matchups Leaked

Submitted by MGoShoe on

In his foxsports.com blog, Jeff Goodman has the following top matchups for next season's ACC - Big 10 challenge.  No word on Michigan's matchup, but for what it's worth, he provides:

  • Michigan State will travel to Durham and face the defending national champs in what’s bound to be the most anticipated game of the season. It very well could be a matchup of No. 1 vs. No. 2.
  • Purdue, a lock Top 5 team, will head to Blacksburg and play Virginia Tech – a Top 25 club.
  • Ohio State, another clear-cut Top 10 team, will travel to Florida State – a team that should receive plenty of consideration in the Preseason Top 25.
  • North Carolina will play at Illinois in a battle of two likely Top 25 teams.
  • N.C. State, which has a loaded freshman class, will play in Madison against Wisconsin.

You are invited to enter your speculative choice for Michigan's opponent among Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland, UVA, and Wake Forest (Miami sits out this year) below.

Well, with our top 3 teams in the conference going on the road, it makes it more likely we'll be at home. I'd like to see Virginia or Wake Forest (played BC twice in the last three years, played Clemson in the tourney, went to Maryland a couple years ago also?).

I miss the days when Michigan's game was one of the "important matchups."  I do think, though, that the groundbreaking was a step in the right direction, and that Michigan will soon become a top 25 basketball team.

The Indy Star just reported that IU is playing at BC.

Of the remaining possibilities, I'd like to play UVa.  I can't remember playing them and we might have a shot to win.  Don't want to see Ga Tech.  Seems like we've played them three or four times in this event.

I would go for Virginia, then that way we don't face a team that is too good because next year could be interesting in terms of our team plays early in the season. We have a lot of guys to break in.
