Tony Jones and NU's surge past State

Submitted by blueloosh on
Tony Jones has just committed to Northwestern over his other finalist, Michigan State. http://northwestern.scout.com/a.z?s=179&p=2&c=885736 I think it is self-evident that the Jones commitment signals a fundamental power shift between the Northwestern and Michigan State programs. And though he didn't say so specifically, I also think it is safe to assume Jones was deeply moved by Fitzgerald's dedication to the State of Michigan, how "real" Fitzgerald was, and, like so many other area high schoolers, now considers Northwestern to be the more prestigious program.

Indiana has taken away 3 michigan players in July... obviously N'Western, MSU, and IU own the state of Michigan. And, it could get worse, CMU is coming on strong

Come on, folks, just be happy for my Wildcats. The fact that this sticks it to MSU should be gravy. In all seriousness, be prepared for Northwestern to win 7 or 8 games this year. The defense is going to be fearsome, as unlikely as that sounds.

Pleased to say that I was invited to Jones' Announcement today. His Mom and Step-Dad know I am Maize and Blue. I knew we did not offer him, but his Step-Father and I played Football together at Flint SW. I figured Tony would go to NW, once I was invited, I figured I would not have been invited if he was going to MSU. Congrats Tony and Wildcat Blue

I wonder how long it will take the media to start writing that Pat Fitzgerald owns Mark Dantonio? BTW, congrats to Mr. Jones on his school selection. I wish you luck in every game except those against Michigan.

Maybe Jones heard the NW "That's alright, that's okay, you'll all work for us someday" cheer on a visit and decided he wanted to be on the winning side of that particular equation in regards to MSU.

I'm currently in the northern Chicago suburbs right now...and... I too would choose Northwestern over State if given the chance. My kid brother is a Sparty but if I'm gonna smell cow shit and live in cornfields for 4 years, it ain't gonna be in East Lansing. I would (and did) head up 127 to Mt Pleasant and be able to just walk right out my front door into a cornfield. Seclusion can be nice. Academics + lakefront campus = win
