Tom and Gisele Wait Two Years to Get Accepted Into Country Club Next to Home

Submitted by FauxMo on July 14th, 2017 at 11:12 AM

The article says that "application was stalled for two years while members debated whether the high-profile couple was a good fit."

What in the hell were they debating? Brady seems to be a model citizen, so it can't be a "crazy athlete" fear. Could it be the immigrant supermodel wife? That would seem absurd, even for the white-bred East Coast set...

They have had four US Opens and a bunch of US Amateurs at The Country Club. It's not like they had to wait that long to get into Travis Pointe...

The Country Club is one of the most exclusive clubs in the country. Places like this are not high on celebrities because they bring unwanted attention. It took Bill Gates many, many years to get into CPC and Augusta.

It reminds me of being in college waiting in line at a bar so that some bouncer can determine if we are cool enough to get in.  I put up with that in the slim hopes of getting lucky that night with a cute co-ed.

No way I would even put up with that as an adult.  So it is baffling why Brady and Gisela would bother with it.  Besides, they have enough money and contacts to put their own exclusive club together.

This place is the quintessential club as status symbol. They have lawn tennis courts...in suburban Boston. I got to play there once or twice growing up nearby. It's as swanky as you think it is. I did play barefoot soccer on the lawns though, so I feel like I took it down a notch in my own way, which is nice.

You, know, I looked around inside pretty thoroughly. I even moved the furniture around, got out a flashlight, and checked underneath everything I could. I just couldn't find any outrage over a waiting period for two extremely wealthy people trying to join an exclusive country club.

EDIT: HOLD THE PHONES! "which has amenities including . . . a curling rink. . . ." Yep, there's that outrage.

How elite do you have to be to not be giddy talking to Tom Brady and Gisele.  Only thing I can think of is that Tom and Gisele would draw press/fans to the club and then the members wouldn't be able to do their shady deals or take their mistresses.

Jesus people I had to wait almost three years to be accepted.  And yes, the curling there is very nice (but make sure you tip the stone boys well cause if you dont good luck getting a sweeper who's worth a damn next time).

TRUST ME.....

As a matter of principle I refuse to put that stupid "s" down at the bottom of posts - especially when one is so over-the-top sarcastic/ridiculous I'm sure nobody would take it seriously.

Sometimes my adherence to principle costs me in the minds of my fellow MgoPosters.
