Jernigan is a Rivals 4* DT from Florida (#3 Positional, #45 National, #12 State) with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, LSU, UM, UNC, USF, Tennessee and USC
Scout much more optimistic, declaring him their #1 DT and a 5*

Thanks for that Geaux
August 12th, 2010 at 7:04 PM ^
I would hesitate to say that Scout is "much more optimistic." He's the #1 DT to Scout, and the #3 DT to Rivals. There's not a big difference there.
BTW: How insane is it that, according to Rivals, Florida has 12 of the top 45 recruits in the nation?

is redoing their top 100 and 250, itll probably be released on tuesday per bartonsimmons twitter. so, jernigan might move up. he was working out with the slot receivers at a camp(i remember reading the tweet, forgot which camp), the dudes got some crazy agility/footwork

He should go with Tshimanga for short

don't get your hopes up though

I hope so. Get him on campus for a big win and with a strong showing this year and maybe we can pull the upset.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:24 PM ^
That is a damn impressive final 5. Would be a great commitment if we could land him. Win baby, just win.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
This information popped up on Scout's website in February
"How many scholarship offers do I have, and who offered first? I have about 30 offers, and Florida offered first (in my ninth grade year)."
"If I had to sign a national letter of intent today, it would be with: Florida"
"Universities or colleges considering: Florida, Florida State, LSU, Alabama and Michigan are the top five. It's pretty close, but if I had to choose today it would be Florida."
One would presume, unless Florida suddenly gets hit with violations or over-recruits the position, that he is a Gator

Florida did take an AMAZING D-line class last year
Dominique Easely -- 5* DT
Shariff Floyd -- 5* DT
Leon Orr -- High 4* DT (Rivals Top 100)
Not to mention a 5* and high 4* DE
Maybe he'll decide he wants to go somewhere and play early?
Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I'll take anything right now...
August 12th, 2010 at 5:47 PM ^
This is what I was thinking. Unless he turns out to be just unreal right off the bat, he'll likely sit behind some very impressuve players for a while, and unless more than one of those guys leave early for the NFL (entirely possible), he might not start until he's a senior.
What would be great is if Florida's DL is good this fall and one or more of those three freshmen redshirt (they took a 5 star and a 4 star DT the year before).

Florida signed:
#1 DE, Ronald Powell (#1 overall)
#1 DT, Sharrif Floyd (#4 overall)
#2 DT, Dominique Easley (#7 overall)
#4 DE, Chris Martin (#18 overall), transferred from Cal.

That's freaking insane!

Solid first post!

It's always good to see the bright minds of tomorrow in action.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
Wait until he gets to Z.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:32 PM ^
After that he can graduate to numbers.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:34 PM ^
Should we consider "aa" as a double post?
August 12th, 2010 at 5:30 PM ^
I read that as a 2 school list. UM and a single group of similar options.
If final five means he makes it for an official, then hell yes it's great news.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:33 PM ^
Good season and you never know. Although I pretty much consider it a moral victory right now that we're in his top 5 with 2 instate schools and 2 other national powers.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:43 PM ^
I could build a national championship team out of all the guys over the last decade who've had Michigan in their top two or three who committed elsewhere. That's why I don't get all that excited anymore about being mentioned.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:50 PM ^
Then why pay attention to recruiting at all? And, even moreso, why read a thread entitled "Timmy Jernigan Narrows it to 5?"
August 12th, 2010 at 5:49 PM ^
If we can get him up here on a visit anything is possible. The kid is a flat out beast and I would be beyond thrilled if we get him.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
He's been down to that top five for quite some time.
August 12th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
The Jerigan in the title is bothering me, I'm so lame.
August 12th, 2010 at 7:08 PM ^
After the Amaizing year we are gonna have, how can he not want to be BLUE.
Let's just get him on campus and work from there.
August 12th, 2010 at 7:49 PM ^
Hope he gets on campus
August 13th, 2010 at 12:17 AM ^
Wins and only wins will bring talents like Jernigan to *sign* with Michigan. I can't wait until September and UConn for the first one.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:20 AM ^
would be huge for the program but in order to get all these kids from florida we will need to showcase improvement ( of course, said for the 1 millionth time i know)
