Timmy Jernigan Narrow's it to 5

Submitted by Dr.Jay on

Per Rivals:

Jernigan said he has narrowed down his list of schools to five: Michigan, Alabama, Florida, FSU and LSU.

He would be a huge get if we pull him from those schools

Jernigan is a Rivals 4* DT from Florida (#3 Positional, #45 National, #12 State) with offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, LSU, UM, UNC, USF, Tennessee and USC

Scout much more optimistic, declaring him their #1 DT and a 5*

This information popped up on Scout's website in February

"How many scholarship offers do I have, and who offered first? I have about 30 offers, and Florida offered first (in my ninth grade year)."

"If I had to sign a national letter of intent today, it would be with: Florida"

"Universities or colleges considering: Florida, Florida State, LSU, Alabama and Michigan are the top five. It's pretty close, but if I had to choose today it would be Florida."

One would presume, unless Florida suddenly gets hit with violations or over-recruits the position, that he is a Gator

Florida did take an AMAZING D-line class last year

Dominique Easely -- 5* DT

Shariff Floyd -- 5* DT

Leon Orr -- High 4* DT (Rivals Top 100)

Not to mention a 5* and high 4* DE

Maybe he'll decide he wants to go somewhere and play early?

Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I'll take anything right now...

This is what I was thinking.  Unless he turns out to be just unreal right off the bat, he'll likely sit behind some very impressuve players for a while, and unless more than one of those guys leave early for the NFL (entirely possible), he might not start until he's a senior.

What would be great is if Florida's DL is good this fall and one or more of those three freshmen redshirt (they took a 5 star and a 4 star DT the year before).

Good season and you never know. Although I pretty much consider it a moral victory right now that we're in his top 5 with 2 instate schools and 2 other national powers.

I could build a national championship team out of all the guys over the last decade who've had Michigan in their top two or three who committed elsewhere. That's why I don't get all that excited anymore about being mentioned.
