so I am confused about all the tape on their hands.

Is it like, Bloodsport style volleyball where they wrap their hands in rope, dip them in resin followed by shards of broken glass?

Don't they know that will pop the volleyball?

I had to find out as well.  What I discovered is unsettling.  For some strange reason, the South American championship includes teams from other continents (except Africa or Europe?!?).

Weird.  Why not just play a bunch of random international games then slap a meaningless label on the winner?

"Copa América, formerly known as the South American Football Championship (Campeonato Sudamericano de Fútbol in Spanish), is a men's international football tournament contested between national teams from CONMEBOL and CONCACAF. It is the oldest international continental football competition. The competition determines the continental champion of South America. Since the 1990s, teams from North America and Asia have participated."

I wonder how that Rose Bowl insignia on the shoulder pad would go over today. I love the patch, but the shoulders are gaudy.

My biggest countdown right now is the imminent HTTV arrival.  I'm about halfway through the electronic copy but the version you can touch and feel is always preferable to me.

#75 is a jersey that is worn for the long haul. After Baas, Corey Zirbel spent his entire career wearing it, as did Michael Schofield after him. Schofield's accomplishments will be tough for Runyan Jr. (currently rocking the 75 jersey) to rival, but hey, at least he has 4 more years to catch up.
