Terrific story on Karan Higdon. Please read.

The kid is truly a Star on and off the field. If you have a chance to read this please do. He truly gets "it". Much of his story is coming to the light now and it's awesome that the Michigan fan base and community is getting to know who this kid is. He is a real Michigan Man. https://www.michigandaily.com/section/football/michigan-football-karan-…

He knows the credit goes to his line. He is just taking advantage of his chance to help the squad win games. He needs to stay humble and continue to be a great teammate. He is part of a rushing attack that is really shaping up to cause problems going forward. Very impressed with the line ever since Drevno came down onto the field....they have been getting straight after people.

I’ve been wondering, how much did you have to do with getting Karan in front of the coaches. I seem to remember you playing a role in that. If you’re ever in Toledo the first couple rounds are on me. He is a joy to watch and seems to encompass everything that makes me a fan of this team and university.

Karan was meant to be here. He worked his ass off and is making good on his commitment. He got here by having the grades and the film. He was always a Michigan Man. Just a different breed.

Great comment by one of his teachers in the comments section at the end of the story. His integrity and hard work will take him a long ways regardless of football. Go Blue!

he had a good article last week about him, mike hart run in after Indiana. I made a comment, few others did about how much we like the kid. He literally went through and put a heart on the comments from each of the fans. Not to often do you see the kids read up on that and react.

very nice story. i noted in particular saturday night how he drives so hard when he hits someone.  even when his back is to the ground he's still crab walking forward trying bull for more yards.  i hope he achieves his academic goals too.

I've drawn some of this through disagreements with folks. It's not aimed at Karan. As long as folks know about the kid, I've made my own bed with folks on the board. Nobody has negative feelings about Karan. Totally good with it.

...if Karan does the same thing in the next 3 games I say give him the key to the university!

a great player for Michigan.  Thank you for sharing MM 14.  So great that Karan runs his heart out for the Maize and Blue and represents and personifies Michigan so well.

Karan Higdon is an amazing kid independent of anything he does on the football field. He has a bright future in whatever he chooses to do and will be a pillar to any community he becomes a part of - Michigan or not...he is a really good human being. We just happen to be lucky enough to call him one of ours.

I sure am glad that he flipped from Iowa!  Giving him to Ferentz would have been a bad idea...  I'd much rather have him running for UM against OSU, than running against UM for Iowa.

Great article, thank you for sharing!

Although, I’m sorry, I can’t not say that citing Sarasota as the meanest city in America in this article is really terrible journalism. While that is an accurate ranking from the time, they were named that because they have ultra tough anti-homeless ordinances, not because it’s a super rough place to live as the article implies (yes, it has some rough spots, but it’s nothing like some areas in the next county over, even). That’s just misleading in the extreme.

We have had many shootings and per capita for violent crime...it is was worse than Miami for several years. This is hidden to protect the tourism industry to be honest. We've had multiple homicides....60 shots 5 hit....Bradenton gang shootouts...stabbings. The whole nine. Not trying to paint out the city as Detroit but there are violent crimes in a concentrated part of this city almost nightly. Almost all of our kids come from this. They see and deal with things they shouldn't daily. I'll save the stories but it is ignored by the media largely to proteCT tourism.

I'm not disputing that.  In fact I said that.  My comment was just that it was a disingenuous use of that particular ranking in the article because the ranking derived from a very specific thing (anti-homeless ordinances) but the author lead the reader to think it was about something else (community violence).

What deserves an additional mention is most on this board will remember the battle we had for Mike Webber and the drama that happened on signing day. We lost Webber and ended up with Higdon. A little know Florida running back that was committed to Iowa and THEN switched his committment to Michigan. Many "myself included" were really bummed out that we lost Webber!  and ended up taking some a Iowa flip!!! Harbaugh won again!!  BOY was I so so so wrong!!!!! This young man has not only turned out to be an awesome running back BUT probably more than anything ....has been EVERYTHING that Michigan stands for!!! #humbled

I agree with everything in your comment, but, if I remember correctly, Higdon flipping to us caused Weber not to commit.  That's why these two are indelibly linked.  In the end, we got the player who was most enthusiastic about coming to Michigan, and it's great to see that he's realizing his potential on and off the field.  Go Blue!

People whine that we aren't getting all four and five star recruits; and then a kid like Higdon comes along and uses the opportunity to keep working hard and improving until he is an undeniable force on the field!  GO KARAN and GO BLUE!
