The team reacts to the unis(video)

I'm not saying I like them or don't, but some of you forget that they're the ones who will wear them and represent the great university that we all love.

It's not letting me embed the BTN video? Edit: longer video including player interviews. Players also helped design the unis http://mgovideo.com/players-react-to-go-blue-uniforms/

the current players are not the most important or pnly part of what makes Michigan special. The brand is not comprised of just the current players and their preferences, is is all current and past payers, students and administrators, everyone who went to Michigan and loves Michigan.

Right..and that is why you do something like this on rare occasion because the players love it BUT you stick to the more traditional uniforms for almost all of the games. There is a way you can try to do something exciting for the players while keeping the traditional uniforms for most games...i see no issue with what they are doing here.

No, the OP made the claim that some people here "forget that [the players are] the ones who will wear [the uniforms] and represent the great university..." wwhich is clearly bullshit rhetoric and evidence that the OP doesn't have a very strong argument.

NO ONE here is "forgetting" that Michigan football players are the people who wear Michigan football uniforms, whether they are the official uniforms or one-off uniformz.  There can be legitimate disagreement about whether the uniforms look good, or whether people really believe that the players or recruits of alumni or fans love them/hate them/have another reaction to them, but no argument based on the assumption that people who disagree are forgetting who wears the uniform can be intellectually honest.

I'm not really calling out the OP for bullshit rhetoric and specious reasoning; god knows that is common enough here.  I'm just venting.

You obviously have your panties in a bunch.

I wasn't supporting the OP's point of view, but the response could at the very least address what was said, not what was imagined. You, of course, did that very well.

Now, why you felt it necessary to do it as a response to my post and not an answer to the OP is curious. Does the possibility that someone, somewhere might agree with the OP bother you that much?

You can't post iframes in the OP. There's a longer reaction video here including interviews with Devin and Jake who said he had a hand in designing the unis. Kind of feel better about them knowing that the kids not only like them, but were actually involved in making them.

The big guys in the seats at front right were basically face-palming.

Our normal uniforms were not broken, but as David Brandon says:

"If it ain't broke, fix it anyhow!"

Initially I saw the video without sound, and thought Jake hated them (based on his reaction in that clip). But seriously, you can't tell from watching that what they think. It could be interpreted either way. I love the all blue...and I am a total 'get off my lawn' kinda fan. I don't like messing with the uniforms, but if I am honest, And saw them on some other team (Oregon?) I would think they looked sweet...and for us, maybe doing something different without the clown stripes is ok.

Is that the standard that must be met now, 100% agreement? Because if that's the case, just about everything in life needs to be overturned. A couple of guys upfront aren't jumping around like 95% of the others. You have to admit overall it's an extremely positive reaction. If a kid had come out in the standard uni's, I'm fairly certain you'd see a much less jubilant reaction. And certainly nothing close to meeting the 100% unanimity that you're requiring for the alternates.

Well obviously, since if they had standard unis, there would have been no reason for anybody to parade around in front in the first place.

All of this is simply change for change's sake in order to amp up jersey sales. That's all. If it wasn't possible to sell the alternates, nobody —including David Brandon—would be fucking around with this, and the argument "it's what the kids want" would be laughed at as irrelevant nonsense.

This uniform didn't take long to grow on me, especially now that I've seen it on a player. I'm glad it's only an alternate look, but I think it's a decent alternate look. The team can go traditional for nine or ten games and have alternates for two or three without everybody going all pitchforks and torches into the night, right?

I like the blue pants with the blue jersey. Not sure about the little details here and there but the all blue looks good.

I'm interested to see what Penn St comes up with.

Oh yeah? Michigans fans were fine with a rapist on the team for quite a few years until he was "released" after his eligibility was done with. Have any problem with that? That a female university of Michigan student had to see her rapist on campus for years so that he could kick for the team?

I would love for you to show me some Michigan fans who knew he raped someone, knew it years ago, and were fine with him being on the team. Also, his eligibility wasn't up when he was expelled from school. I'll hang up and listen. But before I hang up, you're a horrible troll. You should feel bad about yourself.

I know it can be a slippery slope and all that, but the less we get our panties in a bunch about this the more we can focus on stuff that actually matters. I think the unis are cool and I'm a traditionalist. Non Michigan fans comment on these alternate jerseys to me and most of the time it's something positive.

The uproar is really coming from how it was released. If the first release was with the video with the full uniform, there wiuldnt be as much noise, The noise is because everyone got all riled up because they found it in a mailingand only saw the top. Once getting all riled up, people for most part stick to their guns because of the heated arguments and dont allow their opinions to change when seeing the whole uniform or hearing the part the players had in picking them.
