I can't really agree with the underachieving part of your assessment. If he underachieved with All Conference and All American play, leading to him being a first round draft selection, then I hope we get lots more underachievers - ASAP.
The asshat part is highly probable, however.
You're correct in the same ways I believe I am. By all accounts and awards, he did well. But, I am crazy to think a man of his ilk shouldn have been first team, Orlando Pace-dominant?

Yeah, kind of. If you think every O linesman with talent should end up performing like a once-in-a-lifetime player, you're setting yourself up for an eternity of disappointment. I'm not sure anyone in college football has been as dominant as Pace was in his day since the man himself.

He may have not made the best decisions off the field, but it's hard not to root for someone who has wore that Maize and Blue! Go Blue, Mr. Lewan!
and just not like a guy that seems to be a monster douche. Every story I've heard about the guy that didn't come from this blog (and some that have) makes him out to be a total dick. Outside of a funny bike & moustache it's been horrible anecdotes. Just an intolerable level of dickitude. I choose not to really give a damn about him, UM player or not, but that's me.
Remember he came back for his Senior year even though it would have been easy not to.
