the new NCAA protocol for athletes who want to transfer.  easier for the student/athletes. now being used by any decent, 4-5* recruit who doesn't start on their team when they think they should, such as when another recruit figuratively pushes them out of the way on the 2-deep.

Seems like a smart decision to me if he has concluded Fields is likely to be named the starter over him (which also begs the assumption of a waiver being granted for immediate eligibility).  5 star QBs don't really want to sit, don't think they should sit, are universally confident that they are the best man in the QB room, and are particularly annoyed when the school that wined and dined them to the point of committing then goes out and solicits a transfer to take over the position.

Decreasing scholarship offerings and prohibitions on over-signing may actually work to bring some parity to college football.  So in the short run, yes, essentially free-for-all transferring would be ugly.  But the transferring may be kind of a symptom of some other issues so I could see it possibly being an avenue toward some other changes that should probably come to pass.

Tathan sure got a lot of nice/expensive looking ink while at OSU. It's almost like they're giving away tattoos to players.

This kid needs to either shut up or be honest in his rhetoric. Seriously. To pop off the way he did on social media telling people he's going to win the job to this NOT TWO WEEKS later?

He's got talent but is it enough to make up for a head case?

It's sort of crazy to me that people are just assuming Fields is some ready-to-go starter despite growing evidence he's not a particularly accurate QB at this point.  There was a reason Georgia didn't really ask him to pass all that much during his stints as the season progressed.  He's obviously quite talented, but he's also not some 5th-year senior with a wealth experience.

I think what's interesting is that the 5-star guys who transfer for reasons outside of playing time seem to find success (Kyler Murray, Shea Patterson), while those that do really don't amount to much. I think Jacob Eason will probably be pretty good, but he lost his job after he was injured and Fromm played his way into the unimpeachable starter.

We will see if Fields breaks the pattern.
