Taco Charlton w/the "Line of the Day"

Submitted by tjl7386 on

Saw this come across my Twitter feed from an ESPN reporter. This is just another reason why with Harbaugh as our football coach IMO we will never have to worry about our teams being competitive. Harbaugh won't let it happen.

Line of the day, from Wolverines DE Taco Charlton: "We heard about the Seminoles jet skiing yesterday. We were busy practicing." DL Ryan Glasgow added: "I've yet to see a bikini. All I've seen are dudes in football pads."

I always wondered this.

Like Bo and Lloyd before him, Harbaugh considers bowl games a business trip.  No fun in the sun.

So, why not give the players some time after the bowl to enjoy a location many of them have never been to?

What kind of "reward" is a bowl game in Miami that is no different than a bowl game in Detroit from the player's point of view?

Maybe coach can bring some of the latter over to the practice field for additional motivation. Put them on the other end of the field and see if we can shave a few tenths off of our sprint times. Winners get to sprint back to the other end where another batch awaits.

Not really. I get that it is "important" for development of younger players looking for playing time next year and maybe some draft eligible guys, but other than that, who gives a shit? I've always considered bowl games exhibition games so advertising can be sold. No one but players and coaches care who won the whatever.com bowl in a year unless a championship came with it. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I'm glad they are playing another game and I can't wait to watch, but if they lose, I won't care one bit.

Exactly, UF last year set the tone for this season and gave the team, let alone the fans something to hang their hat on. If we lose, we go into the offseason losing the last 3 of 4 games without a chance for redemption for 9 months. Win decisively and we prove this team wasn't just a September/October mirage. This game makes a huge difference.

yep, I came off a bit wrong in my first comment and burried myself.  My original point was that it is championship or bust. I give no shits about finishing 2nd or 3rd. In my humble, unwanted opinion, I won't really care if they lose this game. I'll be a bit disappointed after, but the next day I won't think much about it unlike the regular season losses.  Doesn't mean I don't want them to win (i'll be rooting my ass off) but if I had a choice, I would pick the Iowa or OSU games to win over this one a million times over because winning those games gets UM in the playoffs and a chance at the championship.  Winning this game gets them an Orange Bowl trophy.  I don't really care how many Orange bowl trophies they have unless they get the shiny one to go with it.

Let me take a crack at how important this game is to me.  If we win we are 11-2.  We finish with a better record than coach's first year. The program shows improvement over a great first year.  Recruits see which way the program is heading.  so, yeah, this game is kind of important.
