Still on commit watch? According to our newest commit we are & Jaylen Smith to ND -EDIT-

Submitted by ChuckWood on

"Michigan should be on the commit watch we have another one coming soon;)" - Maurice Hurst's twitter

EDIT: Side note, apparently Jaylen Smith commited to ND.  Unfortunate that we have to face him, fortunately it's not OSU.

EDIT 2: Tremendous said via twitter, "Michigan should definitely be on commitment watch in the next 48 hours." and Sarah Hughes says we will be very pleased.

In addition to all the new UM followers Hurst picked up in the past few weeks, he also is following and being followed by one Wyatt Teller. Maybe he wants to jump on the bandwagon now.

Just speculation, but in the style of Mike Farrell, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.

Must admit some guilty pleasure in reading 11W today.  Their top TE arrested, their most-wanted LB candidate to ND, and Hurst Jr. to Michigan with more to come.

Alex W of Eleven Warriors Tweet:

@alex11w #OSU fans won't like who it may be RT @TremendousUM: Michigan should definitely be on commitment watch in the next 48 hours.

Interesting.

Alex from 11 warriors just said OSU fans will NOT like who the commit may be...

Hmmm...who does have a commiable offer?  Derrick Green, Laquon Treadwell, Henry Poggi?

We can assume that it is someone that OSU has serious interest in, of course, and someone who is well known to both fan bases.

Is Poggi high on the OSU radar? He makes a lot of sense because we just took a DT and he could get crowded out by Hardreck Walker.

LT doesn't make quite as much sense because he knows that his offer will stay open, and he did apparently get some things to think about from his Illinois visit.

Didn't Derrick Green say recently that he would like to visit UM twice more this summer? Has he visited yet?

Kendall Fuller is a wild card to me. I know the VaTech connections, but he has been keeping in touch with our guys.

Ok, I admit it, I'm pretty much baffled, but I do think it is a 2013 guy, and one who is well known at that, but that sure doesn't seem to narrow it. Can anyone chime in with who is a big want for Ohio? I just don't follow their stuff that closely unless it will come down to us and them for a given player . . .

I was sitting around wondering exactly that. Some recruits stay in touch with Steve and some don't. It seems reasonable to assume that the (possible) commit is one of the guys that talks to Steve. If Derrick Green is one of the people that does talk to him, he seems to be a better bet than a prospect that has never made contact with Steve and his crowd.

Are there any other hot prospects that we know talk to Steve much?

He could have gotten that from Hurst or another commit rather than the potential commit himself.
Also, more generally, it's possible that the 11W guy has no information of his own but is just speculating himself (like we are here). Not sure how much to read into that tweet.

Seems like it has to be one of the guys atop our board. Wasn't expecting Treadwell or Green to commit anywhere for awhile. That leaves Poggi and I thought he may be liking Bama more now. Then the OSU guy chimes in saying that OSU fans aren't going to like it. I'm highly excited and very confused at this point. And we have to wait up to 48 HOURS? Shoot me!

I know we had apparently told him LB recruiting was full, but if OSU doesn't like it - a name that could surface is Alex Anzalone again. That would defintely not be thrilling news for Ohio. Green would be my best guess, however.

I'm assuming that based on the above tweets, the player has both a Michigan (duh) and an OSU offer.

Based on the offer list on 11 Warriors, the most notable players that I see with OSU offers and Michigan offers for 2013 are:

Derrick Green

Laquon Treadwell

Laremy Tunsil

Alex Anzalone

Vernon Hargreaves III

Su'a Cravens

Robert Foster

Leon McQuay III

Looking at that list, Tunsil we have no shot at this point, so I'd cross him off.

Cravens has an announcement date that's not in the next 48 hours and it's all but certain he's going to USC, so not him.

Allen I haven't heard

Hargreaves and McQuay are both good players and would be great gets, but we really have no shot with either at this point.

That essentially leaves Green, Treadwell, Anzalone, and Foster. Anzalone would definitely fit the bill of pissing OSU fans off, but I doubt it's him. We already turned him down earlier, and he has other schools he's interested in, so I don't see why it'd be him.

Foster would also fit the bill of pissing OSU fans off, and he stated he'd like to take an official to Michigan so he has interest, but realistically, I'd give that a less than 1% chance of happening.

Green or Treadwell make the most sense. Based on everything, being a great player and OSU fans not liking the commitment, I'd guess Green.

But I wouldn't be surprised if it were Treadwell either. OSU is still recruiting him, although most fans don't think they'll get him, they won't be happy because he's a stud WR going to Michigan. I know he just had his tweets about Illinois, but Treadwell seems to love the attention from this process, so I wouldn't be shocked if those tweets were just to get us all of the scent of him commiting.

No shot is probably an overstatement. Better way to put it is no shot of him committing right now.

You're right, he has visited and listed us among his top choices. But Rivals has Vandy and Florida as high on him and everyone else below. Also, even Brian and Ace have said this, but until he visits again, the chances aren't great.

If he visits again, anything can happen though.

Also to the OP, it's Jaylon, not Jaylen.
