Steroids in College Football

Submitted by meddler on

AP article posted on ESPN:

The author implies that steroid use is common across the sport despite practically no positive test results.

I don't know what to make of it. I'd be disappointed to find that some of my favorite players were/are steroid users.

programs in the BIG where I think its rather obvious their boys use steroids.  And a couple others I'd be suspicious about.

And probably the rest all have individuals who have used them at some point.

Wish I had gotten into this conversation on the ground floor, because I have lots of fun opinions about it.

The short version: Of course steroids are rampant in CFB. Nobody gets caught, which means there is a very low risk of any consequences. I used to think that maybe college was clean, since the guys weren't actually pros, but no longer. Especially not in the SEC, where money changing hands under the table is part of the game--there's lots of funding available for juicing programs.

It's simple, really. Is there an advantage in football to being stronger and faster? If yes, people will juice to get an edge. If they don't get caught, the juicers will quickly eclipse the clean players, and you will find that many of the best players are juicing.

I think people who point at one or two rival's programs are kidding themselves. If you believe that, say, MSU and OSU have players on their roster who are doping, then you are completely naive if you think that Michigan does not have the same issue. Now, it's possible that only some programs who are already unethical <cough>SEC<cough> have a lot of players like this... but I doubt it.

The plain fact is that even the best anti-doping programs can not keep up with the best doping and detection-evasion programs that science has to offer... and the NCAA does not have one of those quality anti-doping programs.

Good post. But I think that nowadays all professional sportsmen use different food supplements and steroids. Modern sport requires amazing physical conditions and such products can help you to gain it! Personally I workout in the gym and also sometimes order steroids on https://steroids-usa.org/ site. As for me it is normal, my results are really cool!
