Well, I couldn't link what I heard, so I used the tailgate link just to kind of verify that he said what he said. Staudt's fairly connected, for being in Lansing, he has a lot of friends who know people/things at UofM. I'm not saying he's 100% right about this or anything, just that he said it. I find it hard to believe that anyone would have made a decision on Tate's status on Monday morning... unless his shoulder is a lot worse than everyone thinks.

Yea I'm sure the Michigan coaching staff are so in love with Tim that they called him first thing so he could break the news. I bet he'll be on national radio soon, what an investigative reporter he must be. Tim, ur cool.....will u be my friend?

the best thing I saw at that link is somewhere in the comments (about mid way through) is an icon in a poster's signature that shows a green roller coaster steep on the rise, then steeper going down. The caption says "Michigan State Football."

I'm not saying I believe it, but this guy is putting his credibility on the line with his listeners and readers, so one would think he's not just talking out his arse.

I can tell you Staudt is a respectable journalist, much more so than the likes of Joe Rexrode. Having said that, I'm curious as to how, of all the reporters that cover Michigan for a living (and general sports in Michigan), he is the first one to come across a solid confirmed report like this (big big big IF it is true).

I hope rumors keep going up to EL all week. Better yet, I hope the coaching staff buys into them. Involving their football team, it's always great to add uncertainty to their despair; it will make for a lack of focus in their 70-hour practice week.

While considering the source, this would obviously be horrible, horrible news. If Tate does have to miss the game at Lil' Brah, hopefully he'll be able to play against Iowa. Off the top of my head, I'd guess that Tate not playing would reduce Michigan's chances of winning from something like ~50% to something like ~25%. I love Shoelace, but if he plays nearly every down I see some major growing pains (interspersed with "HOLY SHIT, he's made of dilithium!" moments). Then, of course, there is DEATH. So ... yeah. Hopefully this guy is full of shit, and Tate will be good to go. Or maybe they're just laying the groundwork to add to the Tate legend this Saturday.

rage and Brown rockets interspersed with dilithium. All this to setup a couple of long passes by DR when no one expects it. Sparty keeps it close (thats a given considering our defense) and takes the lead with a couple of mins to go. AND THEN...stomach punch time....Tate jogs out and lasers the living bejeesus out of them. Michigan wins 37-35.

http://mgoblog.com/content/forciers-shoulder-probably-more-bruised as I read through this I see a good chance that he will play. I really don't give a flying f%^k what some EL arsehole thinks is going to happen. I think we will see more of D-Rob and perhaps a little Sheridan (crap) but I think TF will still be in for a lot of the plays. We will rely on the run game a little more heavily but I think that is not really a bad thing to do.

If Denard gets the start, which to me seems likely, Tate's playing time will depend on how the game is going and how Robinson is playing. If he is leading the team on touchdown drives or the game is close, I expect Tate to sit the whole game. Let the shoulder rest.

I don't think Rodriguez will wait to see how he's throwing on Saturday. If he doesn't practice during the week, then I can't imagine that he will start. It is very rare that a coach will start a kid that did not practice. Maybe if you've got Tim Tebow on your team, but not with a freshman.

source of good sports talk and news in the Lansing area, he's pretty solid about MSU info...........HOWEVER, since moving back to the area I have noticed he is a complete MSU homer with his highlites when dealing with Michigan, rarely does a positive highlite show up in his broadcasts, its always the negative plays. He's part of the Spartan media machine now. He rarely has much to say about Michigan these days period, unless its negative and when reported all of the Detroit Free Press nonsense he could not hold back the smirk on his face. I really don't trust anything he has to say with regards to Michigan.
