Status of UMGC for Sat Tailgate

Submitted by I dumped the Dope on

Just curious if anyone knows the status of the UMgc for tailgating tomorrow?  I will try to call the horse's mouth (clubhouse) tomorow but I'm worried they aren't even open these days, very late in the season, an being in a temporary location and all.

For those not in the area we had a complete day of medium rain yesterday, but its windy and could help dry the surface a bit which is why I ask.  Several friends in town for the game.

Thanks for any insight!

It should be open, but one of the big problems the club has had is people tearing up the course (sharp turning their vehicles on wet grass etc) The course was so damaged last few years it was virtually unplayable in the spring. They are being more cautious now.

The university sends out parking updates when it is necessary. If you've ever purchased tickets you are on the email list. I'm guessing you can just sign up to receive emails.

on the golf courses, we'll be on AAGO before 9, and by this time tomorrow I will have had a hearty breakfast (a couple Founder's Oatmeal Breakfast Stouts followed by Bell's Two Hearted Ale), with a Bloody Mary or two on the side.

What time does my group need to show up to get a spot on the golf course? Likely coming in from state street, but I've never done the GC course before, so looking for any tips. Thanks.

a prepaid pass through the ParkandParty.com website. They still have passes available, according to the website. I just called the AAGO # 734-663-4044 (option 5) and the recorded message states they will be open to the public but "parking will be very limited". I think it's safe to say that certain low-lying areas and spots that got torn up earlier this fall will be roped off. Don't forget, we opened with 5 consecutive home games and 4 of them happened on or immediately following days of heavy rain. Parts of AAGO looked worse than I've seen them in years after the Wisconsin game a few weeks ago ---there's no way those spots will have had time to recover from the abuse. If you don't buy passes, your $50 likely be turned down by mid morning or so. If you buy passes through parkandparty, it's a fairly complicated system, the price is $58.75 per pass AND you must designate the vehicle by description and plate # when assigning the vehicle. The advantages of buying a pass? 1/2 hour early entry, guaranteed spot, and ability wait until late to show up if you wish. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they allow members and latecomers with passes on the course up to an hour before kickoff (wouldn't advise it, though, because of pedestrian traffic!).

and it didn't rain much yesterday. It had been dry for many days prior to that.

AAGO ought to be open -- parking is a huge source of revenue for them and they've lost at least two weekends already this season.

Wait, what? It has rained like crazy this week. It rained almost all day yesterday, and literally the entire day Wednesday too (if I remember correctly). My sump pump just went off about 10 minutes ago. Even though it's been dry today mostly, the ground is so saturated that my sump is going off still.

That said, I am sure the courses will be open, barring a typhoon tonight...

as I just posted above a few minutes ago. The course has wet spots and spots that were so badly chewed up from earlier this fall that there will be some restrictions. For the doubters, call this # for the AAGO recorded message: 734-663-4044 .

They should both be open. I was at the Colorado game and it poured the whole morning before the game and it was still open. Forecast looks like it rained Thursday but no rain today or tomorrow.
