In-state preview of 2013 recruiting
I put together a preview of in-state prospects for the class of 2013. The general feeling is that the top couple of guys (Shane Morris, Steve Elmer) are better than the past couple years, but the talent pool might not be as deep.

could get offered but down the line, maybe camp offers.
Cass Tech olineman and Dlineman have a shot....dt poet thomas has a shot........and a couple other instate oline if they are late bloomers.......
Dillard imo, if you think he can play for Michigan then go after him hard, go win the fight! Elmer going to nd early helps as it stops you from focusing on him for 6 months only to lose him to nd, but I thought it was obvious early to the staff he was a longshot at best.

Hi Magnus,
I was checking out the Scout profile of Joshua Crim. He is an OT out of Lansing MI with interest in Sparty, Ohio and upper B1G but has NO interest in Michigan.
Is he projected to be good enough to earn an offer from Michigan?

I haven't seen any film on him, and I haven't heard any buzz about him . . . so I don't know.

Magnus, you're write was great and I enjoyed it but one piece was missing for me and that was your take on J. Lewis (the Cass Tech DB). I am wondering how you would compare him to the previous DB;'s out of Cass Tech (Mathis, Hollowell, Richardson, Cissoko etc). He seems to be of the same mold size wise (though a little bigger) I remember earlier last season you had said that Richardson was the best CB prospect to come out of cass tech to that point and I am wondering how you see Lewis stacking up?

I'm still undecided about Lewis. His highlight film is really bad and it's full of special teams/offensive highlights more than defensive highlights. He's a very good athlete, has good speed, etc. I want to see a little more of him before I formulate a strong opinion, but I would say he's around Richardson's level. I like him more than Hollowell, Mathis, and Cissoko.

I'd have to guess we won't be signing nearly the number of in-state players this year. Looks like the coaches will be getting more frequent flier miles this year! Edwards will be a bit of a dilemma for the coaches given his size and having Hayes and Norfleet in house already. It's interesting to see Antonio Bass's younger brother on the list. Makes me think about what might have been with the elder Bass. But, I don't see us offering him. Thanks for the great update!

I still think we'll end up getting a couple guys who don't have Michigan offers yet, but I expect Michigan to end up offering a couple fewer players. We offered 12 in 2012, and I figure 9-10 will get offers in 2013.

I hope and pray Poet Thomas proves you wrong and garners a scholly from Michigan.

I'm guessing he would have destroyed at the Sugar Bowl Rap Battle.
