In-state Name to Watch: 2017 Running Back Allen Stritzinger (Warren De La Salle)

Submitted by Auerbach on

I don't normally create posts about individual recruits (we leave that to Ace), but I just watched Stritzinger's tape and its the most impressive film I've seen for an in-state RB prospect since...ever.

Max Preps has his 2014 Sophormore highlights available, which I don't know if its possible to embed:

Trieu is a fan, calling him "one of the midwest's best" for 2017:

Warren De La Salle RB Allen Stritzinger one of the Midwest's best in 2017. #MichiganState, #Michigan, etc interested: http://t.co/G4oZ84ambx

Here is Trieu's write-up on him, which includes this tidbit:

As a sophomore at Warren De La Salle this season, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, including a 175-yard, two touchdown game in the Pilots' state title win.

I searched the blog to see if there was any info on him, but all I found was this favorable mention from Ace in the last paragraph of his write up on this past season's Brother Rice v. De La Salle rivalry game (which Ace attended to watch Malzone):

By Ace - September 23rd, 2014

"De La Salle RB Allen Stritzinger (2017): I had no idea who Stritzinger was before the game, but it didn't take long to notice the 6'0", 178-pound sophomore, whose stat line of 78 yards and two TDs on 20 carries (3.9 YPC) belies how good he looked. Stritzinger seems to glide through the defense when he carries the ball, and while he runs upright, he fights through his fair share of tackles. He has nice juking ability in tight spaces, keeps his legs churning, and has more than enough speed to get to the edge.

Stritzinger also had a big reception out of the backfield, in which he made a very nice adjustment to a ball thrown a little behind him, called back due to an illegal motion penalty; on that play, he looked like a natural pass-catcher. He's definitely a prospect to keep an eye on."

I really hope Harbaugh and the staff make him a priority. He looks like a good one.

two inches and 20 pounds, and then we're in business.  As a soph, and is impressive...that's good.  But I'd like to see a guy who is a priority have a bit more meat on his bones.

What exactly are you impressed by with this kid?

All I see is a bunch of straigh line speed, not much power, looks stiff, doesnt make many people miss. The teams that he is playing against dont have top teir athletes. I'd credit the OLine much more than this kid.  If this is the most impressive film youve watched then then watch more film. This kid will fill out and be recruited as a MLB probably.

For any doubters out there, watch Alex Grace's fil from Swan Valley this year, 2,000 yards the each of the last 3 years, he is going to WMU to play LB.....and his film is much better than this kid's.

Sorry, I just dont see what you see...

How can anyone possibly watch that film and not be impressed? You agree that he's not elusive? He doesn't show any power? What about when he uses a spin move to elude tacklers, which happens three or four times in that film? What about the leaping catch? What about when he breaks four tackles on the goal line? What about the fact that there's no point in juking people when you're fast enough to split the safeties or blow past everyone?

These two comments just boggle my mind. I'm not saying he's the next Barry Sanders, but the first comment was stupid and uninformed, and you think he's 107% correct...

WTF? I don't even know where to start with your comment...

Warren De La Salle played a ton of "top teir athletes" this year:

1. St. Catharines (Canada) which includes Patrice Rene and Neville Gallimore (Oklahoma commit).

2. Brother Rice which includes Alex Malzone (Michigan) and Grant Perry.

3. Orchard Lake St. Mary's which includes Joshua Ross, Tyson Smith (Michigan State), K.J. Hamler, and Cameron Kolwich (Toledo offer).

4. Dearborn Fordson which includes Jamil Sabbagh (Central Michigan) and Abdallah Jaffal (Ball State).

5. East English Village which includes Anton Curtis (Western Michigan) and Emani Mason (one of the top 2017 in-state prospects).

6. Southfield which includes Dior Johnson (Wake Forest), Charles Harris (Toledo offer), Ray Buford (Minnesota), Matt Falcon (Ohio State offer), Devontae Ginwright, etc.

7. Muskegon Mona Shores which includes Tyree Jackson (Buffalo) and Hunter Broersma (a couple MAC offers).

Then you start touting Alex Grace, who's going to WMU and played virtually nobody who's going to Division I except maybe someone from Lansing Sexton, IIRC. Stritzinger plays against some of the top schools in the whole state, if not metro Detroit alone, and Alex Grace plays no one.

Are you f***ing kidding me? You make a stupid assumption and untrue statements, I throw a ton of facts at you, and your response is "Eyeball test. Nuff said"???

I mean, don't get me wrong. It's a very eye-opening statement. But what it means is that you're full of s***.

I don't have a dog in whatever this argument is, but Stritzinger is a sophomore who started for a state champion in one of the most competitive divisions in the state.  There's probably some hyperbole going on here by the OP, but saying he doesn't play "top-tier" athletes is just wrong based on the schedule.  Michigan the state doesn't produce a lot of top talent most years compared to similar states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, but he's absolutely played some of the best the state had to offer.

No, it means whoever is right is right. Unfortunately, you're wrong.

You said Stritzinger doesn't play good competition. I listed probably 20+ players who are going to Division I ball on teams he played against this year.

You also hyped up Alex Grace, a WMU commit who literally plays one team (AFAIK) with even a single player who has an FBS offer. That one team is Lansing Sexton, who has Rayshawn Wilborn (a CMU commit) and Avonte' Bell (a lone MAC offer).

Don't try to weasel your way out of being wrong by saying "You only say he's right because he has more points!" Facts are facts. You said yourself that what you said is an "eyeball test." Unless you've got something better than that up your sleeve, you lose.

All hail Magnus. MGoBlog Winner of the Day!!!
Do you know how pathetic you sound telling me "you lose" on an internet messenger board.

Here is where the Dude would say, "well.....thats just like, your opinion, man"

We are all entitled to our opinions, nice facts, try not to take it so seriously!

You Win!!!.....weirdo

We are all entitled to our opinions. If you had said "Alex Grace is a better player than Allen Stritzinger" or something like that, I wouldn't have had an issue.

The issue arose when you stated your opinion - as fact - that Stritzinger doesn't play against top teir athletes while not leveling the same criticism of Grace. THAT is the issue, but you've been dancing around it the whole time.

Facts are facts, and opinions are opinions. You're getting them mixed up, and you're not willing to admit it.

Needs more weight on him. I like that he is from michigan obviously, but i wouldnt say "best ever" by any means. You know there is a big boy down in texas or where ever that would run a clinic on this kid. But again hes only 15 so we will see... Thats just my  2 1/2 cents ;)

On a side note, Ithaca (MI) Ithaca had the longest current streak in the country until last November when they lost in the state championship game. I think their streak was at 69 straight wins at that point.

finals.  Pretty good back for only being a soph.  I played against his dad (Detroit Servite) back in the 80's when Verska was the coach there as well.  I thought it was nice to see families I played against keep there kids in the DCL.

Maybe you're a friend or family member of his, but I don't see anything in the highlights to warrant that ridiculous kind of hyperbole. The highlights of John Kelly and Mike Weber, to pick two right off, are far more impressive. Obviously there's room for him to develop and grow, but I'll be surprised if he's a true RB for anything higher than a MAC-level program, if that.
