Jesus...I knew the Illini took their Football seriously but damn that is just crazy.

On a serious note though....pretty sad how wussified people are to always reach for a gun...hope he gets a speedy recovery and is ready to play in the spring.

People should read the article before saying "I bet this was some fan punishing him for not making that pick," etc. He was shot when someone fired into a crowd, it was just a freak accident.

I went to HS with him and he didn't have it together in any way, ending up in prison for five years after an armed robbery. He got out and got it together and by all accounts has been in no trouble in the last 4 years so it's doubly shitty for him to lose the end of his senior season to some jackass who wanted to be macho.

While I wished him no luck or a pat on the back during the M game, he's the epitome of someone who turned their life around and for that should absolutely be commended.

Hopefully it wasn't serious enough to keep him out of their likely bowl game.

That's awful luck for him, I hope he recovers quickly. I am certainly glad it was just a hand though, it certainly could have been much worse for him. Still, it's always too bad to see a student-athlete unable to play because of a freak accident like that.

The worst part is that he was there doing the right thing for his teammates.  Definitely hate to hear that this kid got hurt and I hope he has a speedy recovery.  Best of luck to that young man.

Now that Henry is OK, maybe the Zooker should tell the team they are only supposed to be the "Fighting Illini" on the field, and not at post-game parties.  Besides, football players shouldn't go out and party after a convincing loss to a team they see as their "rival."

More time in the film room and less time drinking usually helps a team play closer to its potential.

Just went back and reread the article and would like to take back my young man comment.  He's 27, married, and has a daughter, so I hope this grown a$$ man, heals up quickly and hopefully does get drafted to the NFL.  It's good to hear that he's managed to turn around his life.
