Spring Game Question

Submitted by rastafari on
MGoBloggers: I do not live in AA but I was driving by Pioneer a week or so ago and assumed there was no way the construction being done there would be completed before the spring game. Assuming that the golf course would be closed it could make for an interesting search for places to park AND tailgate. I don't think that AA is prepared for an 80K attendance. Again, assuming that we have more in attendance than last year, does anyone know if Pioneer will be open to parking at ALL? I am trying to avoid parking on a side street and tailgate. Ideas? Thoughts?

This has been brought up several times before and I am pretty sure it was mentioned that Pioneer will be open for parking, just not on the grassy area under construction.

Yeah like Joeyb said, I'm sure the parking lot will be open at Pioneer - the only thing affected will be the grassy area around that. The school is still open and students/staff park there m-f still during school days so one would assume that to be open. I too am interested to see how the attendance is this year. Last year they had parts of the stadium closed off for the construction and I assume this year they will do the same with the press box section. So I wonder how many people can actually fit into the stadium.

I park in a pay lot on the corner of E. William and Main downtown. Sure its a walk from there to the stadium, but it's a pleasant one and the price isn't bad at all. then if you want to hit a pub ir restaurant downtown you're right there.

$20 parking (at most)...on state st right by the East Stadium overpass....easy walking distance either through the train tracks or across the field hockey field. either my landlord will be doing or the people that live here...just thought i'd inform everyone. i don't know how much pioneer costs but this is a reasonable amount.

Will there be a MgoBlog tailgating? I'm coming up from central Indiana for the weekend. Hope I can find something to do for my friends, girlfriend, and I before the spring game starts. Tony McGee is my friends Uncle and he is coming up with me , so Im hoping he could show us around a bit.

Here's a Michigan tradition, that has been lost since RichRod and construction has come to town. The annual Spring Game, post game KIDS AND PARENTS ON THE FIELD-AUTOGRAPH SESSION. As a kid back in 1979, I got to go on the field after that spring game and meet Anthony Carter, and see all of my heroes. And it is a sight to see at the end of that game, when those kids gather along those walls, and rush onto the field like somebody dropped a bag of M&M's. Last year, that traditon was ended, and we had a very TIGHT meet the players-autograph section outside on the steps, outside of the lockerooms. It was not the most safe spot to be with everybody standing so close and tight, due to the construction. And at the end of that game, all RichRod wanted to do was rush off the field and sing the Victors. So HOPEFULLY, this year, somebody will remind him of this MICHIGAN TRADITION, so we KIDS can run on the field, and have some fun. GO BLUE!
