In appreciation of the great floppy haired one. We'll miss him!

He's loved by Kate Upton. Bang on that.

I will always remember Spike like this as he just lit up Louisville and kept us in the game. Feel bad that he was never able to build off of this, but hopefully he leaves here with his degree and wish him all the best in life!

I actually thought his performance last year built on it quite nicely. He really carried the team in many ways. He never became the three launching death merchant that he hinted at, but his ability to drive into the lane and create something from nothing proved to be invaulable.

Plus the 2014 year, Spike played significant minutes and was one of the least turnover prone point guards in the country, while still dishing out loads of assists I believe

Forever more, everytime I hear "One Shining Moment" . . . I will think of Spike.

His Legacy and especially this game will be told to my children and my children's children. That hoop must have looked 5 feet wide that night.
Thank You spike!

doubt we'll see anyone light it up like he did against L'ville, and he gave us a whole lot of other great moments. Best of luck, Spike.

The kid was never afraid to take a shot.
December 11th, 2015 at 9:27 AM ^
I loved his drive and grit along with the pure joy he has for the game. You don't always see players with both.
December 11th, 2015 at 9:00 AM ^
I'll never forget how pumped up I was during that first half performance in the champ game.
December 11th, 2015 at 9:00 AM ^
performed at near all conference level last year. Huge loss, for Spike personally and for the team. Hopefully this team pulls it together for him and he can at least still be a part of something fun. Go Blue. Turn the season around.
December 11th, 2015 at 9:03 AM ^
Got no recognition from the conference last year. What a disgrace.

He seemed like such an emotional leader

Spike Alllllllbrecht with the 3 pointerrrrrr!! Sucks that I won't get to hear that on TV/yell it loudly in my living room after Spike drains a 3 pointer at Crisler this winter. Thanks Spike for the memories!

That sucks. Good luck, Spike!!

I just got chills watching this again. Forever Spike, we'll have this moment.

Stroked a 3 the other night but he hasn't moved like the Spike we all know in some time. Definitely a fan favorite and always conducted himself professionally on and off the court.
Good luck Spike, you will be missed!

Will forever be one of my favorite players to don the maize and blue. Best of luck in everything you do, Spike.

You will forever be a MGOBLOG fan favorite. We salute your brilliant career today. THANK YOU for everything you did for Michigan basketball the last four years, captain.

I thought he was our most valuable player at the end of 2014-2015.
December 11th, 2015 at 9:13 AM ^
This is the spark the team needs. There is no doubt every man in the lockerroom respects the heck of out Spike.
Need to re-dedicate, refocus, and play the rest of the season in his honor.
Spike is a winner and this TEAM will be winners.

You gave us many thrills and memories through the years. Best of luck in the future

Thanks for everything Spike. You're a hellava player. Get well my friend. Lifelong health is way more important than basketball.

Grateful that I picked up my daughter in Lexington KY and drove to the title game in Atlanta to personally witness that unvelievable first half.
One of my all-time great UM memories.
Godspeed.

but who's going to take (and inevitably drain) the ocassional shot from damn near half court when we need a rally now???
December 11th, 2015 at 9:28 AM ^
Great player, great attitude. You represented the University of Michigan well Spike.
December 11th, 2015 at 9:29 AM ^
Any way he can get an extra year via appeal to the NCAA? Hell, it's December 11 and he's played 69 minutes total this season.

Mobile bangs for everyone.

Will someone please find / make a gif of Spike doing one of his infamous drives to the hoop where he just keeps going on the other end instead of taking the shot. That always killed me. He just frustrated so many defenders with his antics.
Or maybe just give me some alley-oops. I could live with that.
December 11th, 2015 at 12:14 PM ^
For all the highlights Spike has and all of his endearing traits, this is the one play that is burned into my memory. A full speed, left handed, cross court bounce pass that is perfectly placed between defenders. That's some serious skill. Michigan basketball isn't as much fun without him.

This pass. Forever.
