SPECIAL pants

Submitted by GoBlue00 on
I dont think michigan should change there jerseys. But, I personally think it would be kind of cool if they had "special", pants. Kind of like what florida does for rivalry games or big games, they bring out there royal blue pants. I think Michigan should have that, for MSU/OSU and big games, they should wear the dark blue pants. And dont even talk about we dont want to be like Oregon, this has NOTHING to do with it, not even close. Oregon has 20 different helmets, 20 different jerseys and 20 diff pants. Or even if not "special" pants, then have maize, white and blue pants. Sometimes go blue pants blue jerseys at home, white jersey blue pants away, or all white away. Or maybe even see an all maize.

If they ever wear the same color jerseys and pants kill me I hate that look. If they go blue pants can't be blue shirts so i say no. these teams look stupid like they are in the psl.

you must be young? Because michigan used to wear white pants for home games. Michigan used to have stickers on there helmets too yano. Theres always little changes to home jerseys. I dont like white pants, blue shirt with dark helmet, it looks terrible like a High schol team jersey. All Blue would look sweet.

I never said we'd never changed uniforms. I just don't want to change from what we have now. I am aware of the white-pants fiasco from the mid-'70s. I prefer not to relive it. And all-blue uniforms? Are you kidding me? You want us to be Toledo? The current home uniform cannot be improved upon, plain and simple. (And no to stickers on the helmets, either. I know Bo did it, but I always hated them. I thought they made the helmet look way too cluttered.)

You're the same poster who liked Forcier because of his uniform, right? I'm dubbing you the fashionista of MGoBlog.

are great and all, but it all boils down to fashion sense and sensibility, right? Honestly, I'm REALLY cautious about changing our look... Not all that thrilled with this year's away's, if you ask me. This whole design/branding idea is kind of my specialty.... but if I were to do anything, I'd go back to the aways we wore during the late 80's - 90's. LOVE the single color digits w/ NO MAIZE STROKE. I know there's big money in the Adidas redesigns, and I'm sure we'll see a new away shirt by 2010... but what I REALLY don't want to see again is just a stock Adidas template (like this year's, also worn by Arkansas and others.) If they design a new template for us, I don't want ANYONE else wearing it. Period.

When you add third color, like we do, it starts to look too busy. This is why Texas' and Penn State's road uniforms are so cool. We should get rid of as much yellow as possible on the road jerseys and leave it at that, IMO. These guys would have to be very confident in their manliness to go maize on maize in a football game.

We are Michigan. We don't copy anyone. They copy us. We have the most unique, recognizable and popular helmet in the game. If you look at Texas in the all-white unis, they look like long underwear. No way!. You don't change the home uniforms for any reason, EVER! Not that I am rigid or anything. I like what the current road jerseys do, the way the maize stripes meet with the helmet stripes in the back, cool look. One of the few things Lloyd brought to this season. The only thing I would change to either one is larger numbers. I think the jersey numbers, especially this year are too small. They need to be bigger and bolder.

We are the ONLY I-A school to have kept the winged helmet when helmets went from leather to plastic, in the 1940s. Everyone else dropped it. As for the home uniforms, first, they really have not changed much at all in 60-70 years (other than tiny things like switching the logo of the manufacturer) and secondly, everyone agrees that they look good now, so WHY change them?

How about we throw in some alternate helmets? And maybe black jerseys (that's the thing to do these days!)? I'm thinking: -Maize shoes -Black socks -Blue pants with big vertical maize stripes -Black jerseys with maize numbers -Predominantly white helmets with blue wings ... Though, really, I'm open to alternate road looks, but I can't think of anything that doesn't remind me strongly of some other team using a yellow/blue/white scheme.

I've always been a big fan of Penn State's home uni's. They are classic. It seems our away jerseys get messed with a lot more than the home uniforms. Count me out of this year's road jersey fanclub, although I agree the numbers should be larger - think Charles Woodson's big, bold #2.
