Sorta OT: Ever named your kid or pet after something U of M related

Submitted by Joshisbowler on

Has anyone on here ever named their kid or pet after a player or coach or anything U of M related?  My wife and I just got a puppy and named her Maizie Blu.  Knowing how things have been around here lately I just wanted to have a little fun with this one.

This is only my second time posting on here so I apoligize if I have any grammer or spelling errors.  Go Blue

I've got a 3 year old Chinese Shar Pei named Woodley. I figured it'd be a little different from your classics "Bo" or "Charles" or "Brady" (for Tom, not Hoke).

Had a dog (that has since passed) with the registered name of Desmond Howard.  Currently have a black lab named Brady and our middle son's middle name is Blue.

My oldest son is named Thomas.  I was thinking Jefferson when we agreed to the name.  Later my wife joked (maybe not) that she was thinking Brady.

My ex wanted to name our duaghter Braelyn. I know the spelling is not right, but she was surprised I agreed so quick. She does have the #1 jersey, of course.

to every pregant woman and expectant father the two choices of Hale Victor and Hailey Victoria.

My 3rd daughter was going to be named either Lindy or Maisy.  I said that she could be Maisy Blue.  Her name is Lindy Nichole.

So when we adopted a second cat (summer of 2012) together, she asked if we could name him Fitzgerald.  I said only if his full name is Fitzgerald Toussaint.  She agreed, and then Poor Damn Toussaint happened.

When I was younger, we actually had two cats that were named "Bo" and "Gary" (this was in the late 80s / early 90s naturally) much to the chagrin of my sisters, who wanted to choose some non-sports names for them. Of course, the sister that eventually took the cats which she moved out of the house did in fact get her own back when it came to names (and, eerily enough, "Bo" died in 2006 as well).

First dog was named Bo. Convinced my parents to name their dog Millie after Bo's wife since my dog Bo loved her when they brought her home.

My dog isnt named after anything Michigan, but she is my avatar wearing her Michigan sweater, so I figured it'd be appropriate to post in this thread.

Named my son Victor and, sure enough, he ended up a Wolverine.  He then rescued a cat he'd seen hanging around Wiley Hall around the time Bo died, and named the cat Wiley Bo.  It goes on . . .

His name isn't U-M related, but when I had to have a "magic word" to get my dog to relieve himself on command (helps with housetraining) only one would do.

Funny thing is, we lived in Europe for three years and I'm sure there are now hundreds of Swiss who believe "buckeye" means "take a leak."  So it was satisfying in more ways than one.

named my yellow (maize) lab Schemmy.  I live in Portland, so I have to explain the name somewhat regularly.  When I talk to people in Michigan, however, it doesn't usually require explanation.
