Something may be going down...

Last night at 11:30 pm, Richard Retyi, UMHS brand manager sent an email to all UMHS marketing personnel that in the next 24-48 hours, a major story would break at one of "UM's main rivals". Staff are directed to be professional in social media and refrain from being rude. I am wondering if that would be the OSU nazi band, but that seems pretty small stuff. Maybe something big comes down at the end of the day.

it would make no sense for the alleged "major story" to be non-medical in nature... there is no reason whatsoever for the UMHS to be so concerned about its staff in relation to football or bands or Urban Meyer, so I'd bet the "rival" is a competing health system.

I wonder if the whole thing is fake, like somebody hacked Retyi's email account.

It was sent to the marketing department, not the staff. It seems to be that the leadership is expecting some story about OSU or MSU to break, and they do not want someone from marketing to run to Twitter and post something that could cause backlash. Even though it's UMHS, their social media accounts will still reflect on the school, and a comment, even if meant as snarky or funny, could easily come off as insensitive.

Would be curious if other marketing departments of the University and related entities received a similar email.

I'm seeing rumors that another OSU player will be suspended 4 games for having a GPA less than 0.8, but I don't see why UMHS would know anything about that

I was in Miami in 2005 for the NCG. was talking with some other football fans and I started making fun of Katz saying how dumb he was and so on. not knowing one of the guys I was talking to was his cousin. I apologized, he said don't worry about it, everyone in the family knows he isn't very smart. my cool story bro.

Yeah. Every college football team has a number of players using recreational drugs. Every college in general has guys that don't adjust to the level of the academics and bomb out, whether they didn't take it seriously or just weren't prepared. It shouldn't surprise anyone when stuff like this happens; I wish they would get it together and not do (get caught with) drugs but it all seems fairly innocuous in the grand scheme.

Their rivals are Beaumont, Mercy, and Sparrow not MSU or OSU.  I doubt this has anything to do with sports.

OSU's hospital's marketing folks wrote term papers for the football players and three received failing grades, 2 were busted for plagarism and one traded a term paper for a tat.
