Softball: Michigan vs. Washington Open Thread
The girls beat Arizona State early this morning, and now they are taking on 11-seed Washington. The game is on ESPN (it started at 3:30pm). Win and advance, or lose and go home. The winner takes on 1-seed Oklahoma at 9:30 tonight.
FINAL SCORE: 4-1 Washington. Good season, girls!
Finally, we're the home team. Go Blue!
so the "if" game will be on Monday. The Finals would start on Tuesday then.
that it really helps things if you can win that first roud game... Why doesn't the WCWS re-seed the teams?
Can the Tigers trade Avila for one of our softball players?
gets a runner to 2nd but thats it. Still scoreless.
via error by SS. Nice hard hit tthough. E6
for Washington (Amy and Lauren) 2 outs
gets caught stealing. 3 outs
still scoreless. Its going to be a 1-run game. The team with the most errors will lose.
I haven't been paying 100% attention to the game, but from what I've seen she's probably been hitting the spots they want, and I believe she's throwing a fraction faster than she was last night as well.
Her job is almost certainly "keep it close enough that the top of our order can win" and she's definitely doing that.
and a few other small differences, I think Driesenga and MGB look alike, style wise. Driesenga has 2-3mph and a couple inches on her, though.
They both have excellent drops, Driesenga's curve is better than MGB's changeup, though, and that probably amplifies the deeper in the arsenal you go (which is part of the reason Driesenga is pitching in OKC right now). Both get a lot of outs and let up few runs without a huge number of strikeouts, and from what I've seen they both show little/no emotion while pitching.
I give her a hard time because of how little she ever shows. Her catcher thinks her face would look the same after a perfect game or a mery rule loss, and that's definitely not the way I'm programmed in competitive situations. Probably a good attribute for a pitcher, though.
leadoff runner on from a walk and gets advanced to 2nd but that is all. Sara is on fire.
Bottom 4, 0-0, 2 outs. Romero grounded out to third (looked like she beat the throw), and Blanchard flew out to center
Let me get this straight, if we are to win this thing we have to win 3 games in 1 day? Jeez
That is why we love this game so much. With Haylie being out, it hurts a tad but not impossible.
the late game last night/early today is going to affect us for sure.
The "IF" game is tomorrow.
The Championship Series is one game a day, so Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday (if necessary)
They really handicap any team that loses on the first day. It's a shame. Oh, well, gotta take care of business right now and figure the rest out when the time comes.
Keep chugging Drisenga!!
WOO! Run scored!
1-0 Michigan in the bottom of the fifth. Two on, two outs.
Michigan 1, Washington 0.
