SNF Open Thread: G.O.A.T. vs. Aaron Rodgers

Another scintillating nightcap gridiron contest that deserves its own thread, given the rarity of this particular QB matchup.

Also, I wanted to take the opportunity to gratuitously plug Creed 2, which opens Thanksgiving weekend and looks amazing. Spoiler alert: the Russian loses. Again.

Unless the Pats and Packers (FTP) meet in the Superbowl, this is likely the last time Tom and Rodgers will play against each other as these two teams aren't scheduled to meet again for another 8 years.

By that time Rodgers will be retired and Brady will be on his way to winning his 10th championship.

Did the NFL make a change in the scheduling of seasons? You play one division from the other conference every year, so they would play in 4 years, after the Patriots play the NFC east, south, and west again. Although, it will be 8 years until these teams play each other in Foxboro again, but they will at least get a shot at Lambeau potentially.

First off:

  1. "sound like a troll", I know you are a fan, but the comment makes you "sound like a troll",
  2. "for longer than you have been alive", not sure how you can ascertain my age vis-a-vis yours. I have seen Joe, Terry, and Roger, so don't assume things,
  3. Keep in mind that back when your favorite quarterback played, the rules for free agency and the salary cap were very different to non existent.  It was much easier for teams of that generation to hold on to their star talent versus look what has happened to the patriots over the time Brady has been there.  They are constantly having to change their roster and jettison some of their star players due to the salary cap.  Therefore given what Brady has done with his ever evolving composition of teammates and given the fact that he has more superbowls, most people would say that he is the greatest of all time.

This game perpetuated the GOAT talk as Rodgers made some crazy good throws and Brady played mind games with the GB defense. They’re both amazing players....but the super bowl rings ascend the true GOAT.
