Single favorite moment from H-Day?

Submitted by Sommy on

What was your single favorite moment from 12/30/14?

For me, I really loved when Coach Harbaugh asked, "Were you that young reporter from the Daily that was at the airport last night?" and when he found out the reporter in question wasn't who he thought it was, he dug deeper, "Where is that young man?  Was that you?  Heck of a job.  That's a go-getter right there."  So great.

Introducing his daughter while she was in the bathroom was pretty great.

The whole thing is just still unbelievable. In one press conference I feel incredibly hopeful about the next 5-10 years, however long he is here, we will not be embarrassed and we will win.

Well, it would be when Jim took two swallows and said he didn't have a list or know the details that it was from the heart, the best thing for his family. This was when asked why he settles for the five million , when he could have gotten more.

Thank you for asking me.

This for me as well. The way he started off the story, I thought he was gonna talk about building another house here and moving on. Then he dropped that line and I'm not gonna lie...I got choked up a little bit.

My H-Day moment was seeing the clip of him deplaning for the first time, with his kids wearing Michigan gear. Despite hearing from people for over a week that a verbal "done deal" had been reached, it all crystallized when I saw that clip.

I always tried to get behing Rich Rod, and even thought he should have gotten one more year. Yet, there was always a nagging doubt in my heart.

I loved Hoke's gutteral passion, but I never lost the feeling that we had Fred Flintstone, when we needed Mr. Slate.

I will always remember that clip coinciding with my realization of 100% confidence that Michigan has a leader perfectly developed for, and positioned for, the success we all dream will be achieved.

"we were on a plane ride over and they had a (michigan)gift basket for us, kids shirts, hats, scarfs and seeing them in it brought me back.......brought me back to a place i haven't been in a long time" that's when it hit me that he needed this job as bad as it needed him, i was skeptical on whether he planned to stick around and i think he might.

If I had to choose, it's probably the moment he got up at the presser, nearly tripped but quickly made it clear that things were going to be different here when he said:

"Did you see that? A lesser athlete would have gone down."

From there and throughout the presser, you were constantly reassured that this was the precise right man for this job and this situation.

From the moment he tripped to when he started talking with his blown-out voice, I thought, "Well, this certainly isn't starting very well..." and then he went out of his way to make light of it.  I laughed pretty heartily at that.

It was his very first comment. I lost my voice because they dumped Gatorade on me. It was a brilliant 3 faceted statement. It was a dig at his former bosses, it was a massive recruiting sound bite, and it was a reassurance to his current players. Hey former higher-ups, the players loved me and it was you who made me leave. Hey recruits, I had pros loving my direction! And hey current players, you are in good hands now, I have the respect of professionals. So cocky, so self-assured, so true! And soooo Harbaugh. Go Blue!!

Best part was when he talked about building a house and living in it permanently.  Confirmed the belief that he was here for the long haul.

Just the way he talked, the stories he told, and the way he looked...comfortable, relaxed, HOME. He didn't have to explain why he left the NFL or why he chose Michigan and less money than he could have demanded elsewhere. It was written all over his face. It was like he was chatting with family and friends at a big reunion. Like he couldn't wait to get his kids to Blimpy Burger or Moe's.

Jim Harbaugh is where his DNA finally screamed to be. And everything about it feels so right, like the universe is back in balance. If he's successful here, I sincerely believe him when he talks about permanence. I hope it's so. Let his brother go for being an NFL legend. He can be a living legend here and have it mean just as much or more than any Super Bowl, given his pedigree with the program starting from childhood.

COACH HARBAUGH: I feel like it's the only personality I have. (Laughter) The other ones were all taken. So I got this one. But we all had a great desire -- it's a human agency to be a part of a team, to be part of something great. To be a part of something that's bigger than yourself. And I have that great desire, and I couldn't be more excited, honored, humbled to be a part of, to this great team. I'm very excited about that.

Down playing every accomplishment Harbaugh had and saying RR- Hoke were better coaches Funny though when RR was here their boards loved him and wanted him to coach at UM forever, because his defense was so inept. This past football season we all heard the chants of UM keeping Hoke around, at sParty Stadium. They are clearly sh1tting themselves.

Enjoyed the entire Harbaugh Press Conference.  I was at work, so was listening on my smart phone, plugged into my computer.

It was a refreshing, brand new start feeling...like new life had been breathed into a body that had been struggling to survive (that may be a bit dramatic, sorry)

You all have said it better than I could. The bottom line is it seems like with the return of Jim Harbaugh as the head football coach, that he had come full circle. I am anxiously awaiting what will transpire this fall, even before that. I too hope that he will make U of M and Ann Arbor his new "home," a home where he will be living and working in/at, for a VERY LONG TIME.

We love you Jimmy, we are so happy to have you back home.

We are behing  you 100%.....now go get em.

GO BLUE and HAPPY 2015 to one and all...........
