I'm not sure how long it will take to get our O Line guys into shape, but I've always admired UW for having an OL that would just physically impose its will on an opponent.

We couldn't push teams like Cincy and AFA off the ball - it was more than just missed blocks or poor angles. STRENGTH!

like seeing this track record:

"During his career as a strength coach, Herbert has worked with 71 NFL Draft picks, including eight first-round selections. He coached two Heisman Trophy finalists, two Outland Trophy winners, two Doak Walker Award winners, 49 first-team All-Big Ten selections, four first-team All-SEC honorees and 30 All-Americans."

Love it in terms of building strong maulers, but i hope he or someone on his staff is just as good in developing speed and explosion in our skill position guys.

old dude, Tolbert, didn't look crazy enough to be a good S&C coach. This guy looks the part. If he wasn't a S&C coach, he'd probably be a bouncer/bountyhunter in Miami-Dade.

Due to NCAA rules, S&C coach has much more time with players. Winter conditioning, then spring/summer. Besides conditioning, he is critical for team’s culture & attitude. Bet Harbaugh felt something was missing. Certainly showed in 3rd & 4th quarters. Good benchmark- UM basketball. Read today where Beilein relies on Sanderson to evaluate recruits.

Wow, that is an impressive resume. For all those worried about Arkansas cast offs, it looks like at least this hire comes with all the appropriate accolades of a legit elite talent.

Nice to see that Mr. Herbert is a fellow Pittsburgher as myself. Has a sound resume. He'll definitely be bringing a HARD EDGE to Michigan.

Sam Webb, Brian, et al were wondering a few weeks ago what Harbaugh meant when he said the team needs to get stronger. This is probably what he meant -- that the D seems to fade in late 3rd and 4th quarters. Brian theorized this was due to morale; offense screws up or Peters gets a concussion and D lets up. Harbaugh theorizes this is an S&C issue.
