SIAP: Michigan opens as 18 point favorite against Iowa

My first reaction: "That's a lot for a trip to Kinnick Stadium. Wow"
My second reaction: "We're going to cover."

I expect an outcome like the PSU game last year.

Offensively, Iowa is the least equiped team on the schedule to go against the Michigan defense. Their entire offense is built around inside running and YAC.

Whoa everybody!
We've got a Cool Negative Guy sighting! Quick, get the binoculars!
November 6th, 2016 at 3:44 PM ^
H0ow is he being negative? We all saw the games. We all saw what needs to be cleaned up. The concerns are legitimate. Maybe not against Iowa or Indiana but these could be problems against OSU.
November 6th, 2016 at 2:13 PM ^
MSU had about 175 yards entering the fourth quarter. That's important to keep in mind.

November 6th, 2016 at 1:33 PM ^
You do realize Iowa is coached by Kirk "punt from opponent's 30" Ferentz right?
OSU is a valid concern, but I think we learn more from our own scout team than Iowa.
November 6th, 2016 at 1:40 PM ^
I like that we're saying the defense needs to get their shit together after holding a team to 3 points.
November 6th, 2016 at 1:51 PM ^
November 6th, 2016 at 2:05 PM ^
We're outscoring our opponents by only 336 points this season, which SUX with a capital X.
Our shit clearly is NOT together.

If I remember correctly, we're 2-4 against Iowa in the last decade or so - I would say that the time is right to begin to reverse that trend. Kinnick Stadium at night has historically been tough, but a flailing Iowa team is probably a team that Michigan, playing as they are, should have very little trouble with.

Is the Kinnick visitor's locker room paint scheme still dedicated to breast cancer awareness?

Affirmative.
November 6th, 2016 at 1:43 PM ^
They are 2-3 at home this year. Let's make it 2-4!

You can never be too confident there. Our track record there is not very good over the last 30+ years.
Also, hopefully we've learned something from the MSU game. They were pathetic before they played us, and they were pathetic after they played us.
But when they played us . . .
You can count on one thing: The Iowa team we see on Saturday night will not be the same Iowa team we've seen the rest of the season.
It will be a fight.

Iowa is a better team than Sparty and it's our toughest road game yet. Colorado and PSU might be better teams but big difference between afternoon game in AA and road game at night.
That does kind of show that the team hasn't really had a truly tricky game yet.
November 6th, 2016 at 2:16 PM ^
Wisconsin was tough, and would be tough ten out of ten games.
But to your point, we have not had a road game against a team that has won a single Big Ten game. Not one.
We have not faced any true road adversity yet.
November 6th, 2016 at 2:49 PM ^
perhaps because it was so un-2016 in its low-scoring 'close game' ways. Wisconsin at home is a tough test but Iowa played Wisconsin pretty close just a couple weeks ago at Kinnick before succumbing. I think Iowa on the road at night is still - all things considered - the trickiest game yet. Because you just know they're gonna bring their best shot. We may not be Iowa's official 'rivals' but you know they loathe us and would love nothing more than ruin the possible undefeated season.
November 6th, 2016 at 2:17 PM ^
MSU actually has better receivers. Beathard is why they have five wins and he is beat up. Their OL is poorus and their receivers are nondescript. Their defense is not nearly as good as it was last year.
If this game were in Ann Arbor I would expect a 42-10-type game.

Iowa will bring their best, all we have
to do is not let up. We looked good
Saturday and I don't see us not playing
all four quarters anymore.
