SIAP: Jabrill Pepper's Soundcloud Page
Football downtime yields these types of posts.
So, if you recall during Pepper's recruitment, it was made clear he had a flare for rapping. So, I follow him on twitter, and he linked to a recent project on his soundcloud.
Im not a huge rap fan, I like Mac Miller, some Lil Wayne, etc but his stuff is pretty good for a college kid taking classes and playing football.

Check out his song "Drop it Remix" - catchy.
If he takes the same passion to the field, we are in for great results.
Passion knows no boundaries.

Jabril might want to work the back channels to get Snoop's son on the team. That way when Snoop is in town, both Jabril and Snoop can record together.

Looks like some refugee from the early '70s.

That is snoop pretending to be a white guy and proving how hard it is for a white rapper to break into the biz!

I don't possess the gene to know if a song is hip or groovy so I'll just say it sounds like other songs the kids who trample my lawn listen to.
On another note, Pepper's rap name is "J-Reall" which I'm guessing sounds like "Jay Real" which I'm also guessing is a take off his first name, Jabrill. I've heard it pronounced "Ja-brill" (rhymes with "the pill"); is it really "Ja-breel" (rhymes with "the seal")?

The word Jabrill (Jibril) means Gabriel in Arabic. (My nephew has the same name). The "proper " Arabic pronunciation is closer to Jib-reel (rhymes with "bib wheel") but, like typical Americans, even our family usually pronunces it more like "Ja brill" (rhymes with "the pill").

Kill the interwebs

Kill this "meme speak" that puts an 's' or 'z' on the end of words.

Kill thi "meme speak" that put an 's' or 'z' on the end of word. Done.

Don't you realize that getting rid of the z's means destroying the Zaxby's menu? I want my Chicken Fingerz, Zappetizerz and Zalads.

Guess I missed something last fall. I know about the inital ankle injury, and I knew there was a second injury, but I didn't know it was his knee. How severely did Jabril injure his knee?
January 9th, 2015 at 10:54 AM ^
Chips. The MGoDoctors are more qualified to say how serious that is but it sounds like he is healthy enough for practice.

Spell check too, knows no boundaries.

if you are referring to my OP, I guess I am dumb, because I cannot for the life of me find the spelling error.
January 9th, 2015 at 11:05 AM ^
"fuge rap ran", lower case "i", "if you are recall". It can be hard to edit your own work because your brain reads what you know you meant instead of what you actually wrote

Thanks, fixed.

We never got to Fugue Rap in Musicology class.

Spellcheck doesn't have a flair for correcting homophones. Or homophobes, for that matter.

If you like Lil Wayne and Mac Miller, you definitely aren't a hip hop fan. That Don't take it personal was seriously dope, and reminded of that old NY sound. Not a fan of how poppy and bubblegum a lot of the poplar rappers sound now a days. The other stuff from Jabrill isn't nearly as good. Kind of like Jack Kennedy, this type of rap isn't really for me. I am an old school boom bap type of guy so a lot of these new rappers do absolutely nothing for me. I hope Jabrill and Jack the best though, just not loving the music.

in the mirror! That handsome fellow could be my twin! Who is that? I'd like to meet this guy.
January 9th, 2015 at 11:34 AM ^
.....I'll stick with his flair for hard hits and pick sixes.
January 9th, 2015 at 12:18 PM ^
Just an FYI for those of you not hip to the way that Soundcloud works... only the songs with his picture and labeled J-Reall are by him. The other songs are just one's that he has liked and shared on his page.

That is a good mix. Exactly something i would listen to. I wish i could download it!

I am still a Jabrill fan when it comes to football at least. I'll admit it sounds like a lot of "radio rap", but it's just awful. I am admittidly a snobby "underground hip-hop head".. so I hate most radio rap. This is brutally bad, but fits right in with what he's going for, I guess.
Anyway.. good luck, but better luck on the field.

I’m more into older R&B and Rap music. Though I will admit that the song fits very well into what’s going on nowadays and I think it sounds all right.
For those who aren’t familiar with this music genre, the song is a R&B track with a Rap segment done by Jabrill Peppers. Many R&B songs are done that way.
I wish him the best, but success in music is all about who you meet, who you know, and who you are, and not necessarily the quality of your music.
If Jabrill was a bigger music name and had the right connections, that song could possibly be a big hit.
