[Should] Brandon Waive PSDs?

Submitted by Black Socks on

Like many of you I want to see a full Michigan stadium for each game.  Based on the product for the past six years plus the cost of purchasing season tickets, I fear that there may be empty seats next year.  Don Canham always said (paraphrasing) it's better to have excess demand than one empty seat.  He also preached that the Michigan ticket holder should feel they are getting the best deal around.  Based on recent performance and the weak home schedule next year - should Brandon waive PSDs for our loyal season ticket holders?  Why or why not?

...I hope they all make their displeasure -- even their heartbreak -- at saying goodbye to Michigan football known, to the powers that be at 1000 South State.

My compromise position (I really enjoy my seats) may be to scale back on how often I go, and to seek out seat partners who are other season ticket holders who are backing out of their own subscriptions, to share the cost of my seats.  It is all a net loss to the Michigan Athletic Department; reduced numbers of season ticket subscribers and lowered demand for tickets.

My dad has held season tickets for football forever and bb and hockey for 30+ years and he was really peeved with the bb psd and will probably give up hockey (35 for most games) for next year.   We gave up our hockey tickets 2 years ago but kept our football tickets.  I hope they get it soon at the athletic department but I'm afraid that Brandon doesn' t care and when he moves on in a few years, his successor will be left to pick up the pieces.

I've been a basketball season ticket holder from time to time.  I had season tickets for the Fab Five years.

I am certain that now, in the current era, I will never be a season ticket holder.  The PSD's are far too high.

While there is much to be admired about the revamped Crisler Center, I cringe every time I enter the building now, thinking about what a high-priced, high-aspirational venue it has become.  I think of the Palace of Auburn Hills when I enter.  Some others might think the same thing, and think it is awesome.  I think back to what a simple pleasure it used to be to go to a Michigan basketball game against a solid Big Ten opponent, where the music was furnished by student musicians and the entertainment was all about what was happening on the court.

If I wanted an NBA experience, with free agents playing under contract for a couple of years and then vanishing to another team, I could get to the Palace quicker than Ann Arbor.  I still like college basketball; the game itself is much more appealing than the NBA.  But Michigan has already lost me as a possible season ticket holder in Crisler.  I'll watch on television.

So I can quite easily see how Michigan football can lose fans in exactly the same way.

I'm a season ticket holder.  After the abysmal performance this year I was ready forget buying my seats next year.  But I found someone who wants the seats bad enough that they bought the tickets from me.  I live in GA, so if I'm going to travel up there, it had better be worth it (Watched ND the last 2 home games and it was worth it).  I just like having the option for special games or being able to fly up and go to a game when I want to.  This thread reminded me to go pay my donation fee.  It's sad that when you're 'paying' a donation that they ask you for another donation during the checkout process.  I realize it takes money to be competitive, but

1. be competitive.  7 - 5 isnt' competitive

2.  try to give me a breather between hitting me up for money.

3.  be competitive.

As a side note, I think we should give special permissions or MGOPOINTS to season ticket holders.  Trying to get something worth my money out of the donation that's not a fee that I just had to pay to retain my seats.
