A first round lock would be a cannon-armed 6'4" pocket passer with some mobility. That's not really him, but he's a great talent and could be the next Johnny Manziel (but a little taller and hopefully better off-field judgment). He's got a long ways to go before he gets NFL hype. Tons of potential, no doubt.

I love this. More competition is always good and a proven starter to round out the lineup never hurts. Peters was always going to have to compete for the job; reportedly part of the reason Speight transferred was bc he wasn't promised it'd be his. Peters will have his chance to show what he can do in the bowl game, and he has a leg up since he already knows the playbook and WRs. He's not going anywhere since the edge is his already. Anyone that thinks he would is just trying to foment drama.

I can’t believe that there are people in this thread who are against making our team better, and deeper at the QB position. If this season taught us anything it is that you can never have too many talented QB’s.

If memory serves me, he was committed to Ole Miss just prior to his senior year at IMG so we weren't a big player to begin with. In fact, he was originially committed to Arizona but played high school for a couple years in Shreveport. Everyone thought he would end up at LSU. Was recruited pretty heavily by them.

Sam's normal upbeat optimism was replaced by a somewhat pessimistic tone when he referenced his sources on Reese now implying MIchigan has an uphill climb to retain him. I think there's more info on the premium board, but I expect there will be a separate thread about this before too long. We're not giving up by any stretch; Michigan coaching staff members have already and/or will be attending Otis's remaining games.

It's disappointing, but it's not too surprising to me, given how our season has gone in contrast to our main competition for him, which I would guess is Alabama and Georgia.

The QBs we need for the next three seasons are already on the team. This guy comes in and at least one if not both (Peters and McCaffrey) transfer out. Why spend two years waiting your turn if the program becomes known for bringing in transfers all the time?

I'm a pretty firm believer that Patterson is going to come for one year and one year only.  He knows he has a chance to be a first rounder if he plays well (assuming he is ruled eligible which I have reservations about).  An uber talented player that is going to be on a very good team with the extra motivation to perform to improve his draft stock.  I'll take that all day long.  Plus Ace had tweeted out earlier that the plan for Peters all along was to take over in 2019 so this falls right in line with that timeline as well.

And not that it means anything because of how early it is but Walter Football has been projecting him to be a top 10 pick in the 2019 draft for awhile now.
